Rise of the Merchants

Welcome to the Tavern!

Black Duke Games

Hello there,

this time it's all about tasty beverages and a good chat! That's right - I'm talking about the tavern! It' one of the most important buildings in Rise of the Merchants. After all, you get to know your settlers here! The Tavern in settlement view, not upgraded yet

Once you've built and entered the tavern, you'll see the settlers who came here to have a good time. And you can play your part by inviting them for a drink! Thirsty visitors Now that the cool ale flows, different options appear, some of them depending on the guest: Chat options

Get to know: Here, the settler gives you some personal insights. By that, your reputation increases, potential is revealed and stats increase. And if you're lucky, the settler drops a hint, in which case you can gain a valuable favour, provided that you have the right gift. Some nice cooking utensils can do wonders for someone who want's to prepare his own meals. Well-known settler, chance for a gift revealed Offer help: Choosing this option gives you the chance of getting a quest from the settler! From delivering rare items to organizing a tour to the earl's court anything is possible! Succesful inquiry for a quest Ask for rumours: The settler might reveal that he's been around a lot. In this case you can ask about interesting places, where your employees can get inspired if you send them there. This will boost certain attributes permanently and temporarily! Location for inspiration revealed Offer a gift: Here you can offer gifts you've collected throughout the game. Read between the lines to make sure it's the right one - otherwise it'll go to waste... Whoopsie, wrong gift Use skill: This is a rarer option. Sometimes settlers are very skilled in a particular area or they posess a special ability. In this case they can improve other settlers or boost production speed, among other things! Production speed increased! And these aren't all options that are on the table. If you happen to meet the village elder, you can make good use of his or her influence. Carefully choose your option, because most settlers are done when you've bought them a jug and you don't get to pick another chat option.

On rare occasions, some thirsty ones go for a second pint - in this case, you get to choose again and you can even offer a contract.

Something that's usually only possible in the guild house. A drunk settler puts his signature on anything eventually... ;)

I hope you found these facts interesting. There's much more to discover, so see for yourself in the future!

All the best and see you soon,

Erik from Black Duke Games
