A New Era of Fuel Management
Captains,
Fuel has always been essential to operating your vessels in Ships At Sea . But until now, bunkering stations have mainly served one purpose: keeping your tanks filled.
With Update v0.8.8, we're introducing a new fuel economy system, alongside improvements to bunkering stations and the World Map. Fuel will become more than an operating expense, creating new opportunities to transport, trade, and earn money for your maritime company.
Let's take a closer look!
More Bunkering Stations, More Refuelling Options
We've added several new bunkering stations across the world of Ships At Sea , including larger stations designed to accommodate bigger vessels. This gives players more flexibility when planning their routes and refuelling stops.
We've also introduced distinct World Map icons for small and large bunkering stations, making it easier to find suitable locations.
Using the World Map filters, you can locate stations and check their dynamic fuel prices, with buying and selling prices now displayed separately to support the new fuel economy system.
Fuel Is Now Part of the Economy
With the new system, fuel is no longer an infinite resource at every station. Bunkering stations now have limited fuel supplies and fluctuating prices, making refuelling and route planning more interesting.
You can now purchase fuel at one of the large bunker locations, transport it with your external fuel tanks and sell it at another bunkering station, helping replenish stations that are running low while earning money for your maritime company.
Of course, you'll need to consider fuel prices, so choosing the right opportunity is key!
Fuel trading introduces another business opportunity, giving you more ways to put your vessels to work.
Keep an Eye on Fuel Supplies
You'll also be able to recognise when a station is running low on fuel without opening the World Map.
When the fuel supply at any of the Bunker Stations drops below 15%, a red warning light will indicate that its reserves are running low. It's a small visual detail, but one that gives players useful information while navigating the world.
So, the next time you pass a small bunkering station and notice that red light, it might be worth checking whether there's a business opportunity waiting for you!
The choice is yours!
Whether you simply want to refuel your vessel and head back out to sea or explore new business opportunities through fuel transportation and trading, the new system gives you more ways to manage your maritime company.
We're also preparing our bunkering stations for the future. Our goal is to support different fuel types for various engines and generators, while laying the groundwork for more advanced bunkering facilities and refuelling operations, including those needed by larger vessels.
This is another step toward a more interconnected economy in Ships At Sea .
Fair winds and following seas!
