Sort Them Socks is out now

Hi everyone! Today we're releasing Sort Them Socks on Steam. It's a cozy first-person sorting game: a little shop buried under 3,272 pairs of socks, 64 empty cabinets along the walls, and all the time in the world to put every pair where it belongs.

Pick a pair up, read its colour, pattern and price, and hang it on the right rod. Play alone or with a friend, at your own pace or against the clock. Here's everything that's in the game.

What's in the shop

• 3,272 pairs to sort into 64 cabinets and 3 legendary shelves
• 26 kinds of socks: 9 plain colours and 17 patterns, from argyle and tartan to leopard, tie-dye and avocados
• Three prices: $1 pairs at the bottom, $2 above them, and $3 on top where a stack has three cabinets
• 12 legendary designs on gold hooks, that fit any legendary shelf
• No hints, just a feeling: a soft green glow when a pair is right, a red blush when it isn't, and every mistake can be taken back
• Celebrations: finish a rod and its pairs hop and turn green; finish a cabinet and it lights up in rising glitter, and a complete legendary shelf glows like a neon sign
• Look closer: hold right click to bring a pair up to your eyes and turn it in your hands

Four ways to play

You pick a mode when you start a new game.

• Relax: every skill is unlocked from the start. Just sort.
• Normal: earn XP, buy skills, and race the clock on the leaderboard.
• Hardcore: no skills at all, only your eyes and your hands.
• Dark: the lights are out. Sort by flashlight while the lamps flicker back on now and then.

A knitted skill tree

Every pair you hang in the right place earns XP, and full cabinets pay a bonus. Spend that XP on 18 skills with two levels each, in six branches:

• Hands: carry bigger armfuls, reach further, keep the right pair on top of your stack
• Sorting: see if a slot is right before you hang, fill whole rows at once, take any pair from a rod
• Eyes: spot the free slot your pair belongs in, light up matching pairs across the floor, count what a cabinet still needs
• Speed: walk faster, fly pairs into place faster, and chain right pairs into combos for bonus XP
• Rewards: read prices at a glance, earn more for full cabinets, and hunt down the legendary pairs
• Tricks: Twin Arrows point at every match on the floor, Sock Magnet calls them into your hands, and Sock Rescue gathers the last stragglers when the floor is almost clear

Sort together

Two can sort faster than one. Host a new game or your saved one, and a friend joins over Steam:

1. Choose Co-op > Host, then New Game or Saved Game.
2. Send an invite from Steam, or share the six-letter join code shown in your lobby.
3. Your friend chooses Co-op > Join and types the code, or accepts the invite.

You share one shop, one XP bar and one skill tree. Co-op is played in Normal mode.

Achievements and leaderboards

45 Steam achievements wait along the way, from First Pair and Shelf Respect to Hall of Legends , Fully Knitted and Not One Sock Left . A few are just for fun: try dropping the same pair ten times.

Finish the whole shop in Normal mode and your time goes on the Steam leaderboard, with a list for single player and one for co-op, where both friends' names share a line. How fast can you open the shop?

Play your way

• 30 languages, chosen from your Steam language on the first start
• Mouse and keyboard or a controller, with every key and button rebindable
• Three save slots and autosave, plus a Tutorial switch on the pause screen that shows the main keys
• Settings for graphics, sound, look sensitivity, head bob, crosshair and more
