Update 0.2.3: The New UI, Ships Roll Rarity, Mining Rework and Retraining

Astraeon Interactive

Thanks for all the feedback and support! if your request, suggestion, bug report isn't listed they are carried over to the next update!

NEW

  • The whole UI is rebuilt: inventory, Ship tab, Shipyard, Market, Storage, Crafting, Station and Building screens, Fleet tab, Pilot and Logbook pages, both maps, the flight HUD, the main menu, Save/Load, Settings and the New Game wizard.
  • Every screen now uses the same layout: a list on the left, the selected item's details, and buttons along the bottom.
  • Same keys everywhere: click = 1, Shift = 5, Ctrl = all (or until your hold is full), Ctrl+Shift opens an amount box. The footer of each screen shows the keys.
  • Long lists are grouped by item type into sections you can fold open and shut. The game remembers which ones you opened.
  • Every flight HUD card folds shut into a one-line summary (radar and pinned construction materials stay open). The radar and the left HUD get their own size buttons.
  • The Ship tab shows Weapons and Modules in one panel with a switch, weapons grouped by barrel and modules by type.
  • Settings has search, sections, a description pane, key-conflict warnings and a confirm before restoring defaults.
  • New UI Scale steps (50% and 75%), a Tooltip Delay setting, Tooltip Lock at 2 seconds, and the FPS counter off by default.
  • HUD readouts show the key they use (the default key when you haven't bound one).

Ships roll rarity: hulls built by stations for sale and hulls you craft roll Common to Legendary. Each step adds +15% hull, shield, cargo and top speed, and the price rises 15% per step.

  • Derelict hulls and mission-reward hulls roll rarity too.
  • Upgrade Kits work on hulls. A hull needs one kit per 10 hangar space (a Dreadnought needs 40), all of the target rarity.

Retrain Pilot: the Stationmaster retrains your pilot's talent and profession for 50,000 credits per pilot level. Allrounder: a sixth profession with +10% XP in every field, no penalty and no perk, open from day one. New Game wizard: "Bring a ship from a save". Pick a ship from another save and start with its full fit, your pilot level and skills, all your credits, learned blueprints, its cargo, its officers and your standings. The old save is not changed. Gunner officers have three orders: Auto (they pick targets and fire), Manual (you aim and fire that gun while the gunner's fire rate and heat bonuses keep working) and Hold Fire (nobody fires it). Right-click the officer or the crewed gun to switch. Storage rules: for each item type in your storage at a station, choose Keep, Auto-sell Daily or Refine Daily. Fleet work orders: choose where a ship delivers (station stock or your storage) and a new "Run once" mode. Learn blueprints straight from your storage, and a setting to learn picked-up blueprints automatically. Setting "New plans start running at my stations" (on by default). Right-click your own station's crew ships to Enlist them into your fleet. Hardpoints are shown before you buy a ship. Danger pay: contracts in dangerous sectors pay up to +100% more. Ships in your fleet count toward cargo contracts with what they carry. Losses page: destroyed stations, buildings, Storage Depots and construction frames are listed with who, where, when, their value and whether they are being rebuilt. Codex: folders in Ships & Gear and Market Prices, parts split into Basic / Advanced / Super, and a Rarity filter. Save/Load: rename saves, see details, filter, and a confirm box with "Don't ask again" replaces typing CONFIRM. Loading screens show a tip and a spinner and never freeze. Co-op: Share XP lobby option (Off / Nearby, default Nearby). Pilots in the same sector, docked ones too, get 50% of kill XP and the full-sector exploration bonus. Co-op: Share Blueprints host setting (on by default).

CHANGED

  • Mining rework: stronger Mining skills (collector reach and pull, an ore-only bay, faster ore hauling, better fleet and drone cutting and yield). Ore markets are deeper and recover after you sell.
  • Every pilot gets the basic refining and parts blueprints. Older saves get them once, with a log notice.
  • Auto Course option to ram through small asteroids.

The Mining Drone is now a fleet miner and really mines, instead of acting as a cargo collector. Auto Course goes through gates nose first, flows through waypoints, docks at the ring edge and finds a new route when it gets stuck instead of cancelling. ASTRA adapts to your ship's role, no longer forces a weapon swap on you, uses your real gear names and has a Back control (Home key). The Exploration XP cut in low-level sectors is gentler: -10% per level above, never below 30%. The XP bar tooltip and Skills page now show it. Map tooltips open on the far side of the panel or list you hovered. One E press does one thing: picking up beats delivering, and the shown row is what happens. Brakes and Flight Assist settle to a real full stop. The HUD warns when no stabilizer is fitted. One wreck counts for every scavenge contract you hold. Power readout shows real figures (skill discounts included, idle and all-guns use). Fully explored sectors clear their last fog, also in older saves. MK II to X items keep their real description.

FIXED

  • Gunner officers fired late at big ships: they measured range to the centre of the ship, so a Battleship only counted once you were touching it, and your locked target lost to smaller ships. Range now counts to the hull edge, for gunners and every turret battery.
  • The boost sound didn't play when you pressed Shift.
  • The Mining Beam toggle and the Rock Grinder switched off when you picked up ore.
  • A renamed ship lost its name when it took the station loot collector job.
  • Storage showed space used but nothing listed: stored ships are now listed, and you can park, swap, sell or take them.
  • The game clock could freeze after an ASTRA danger warning.
  • The click that brought the game window back into focus fired your weapons or clicked the UI.
  • The mouse clicked in the wrong place on some ultrawide and windowed screens.
  • New buildings, rebuilt wrecks and conquered stations could be placed too close to other things. You also can't build within 600 of a wreck now.
  • Fleet ships swung back and forth on the spot instead of taking their place.
  • The Magma-Dredge had no stabilizer: it gets a Ballast Stabilizer and one more module slot (older saves are refitted once).
  • Supply Construction ships vanished from your fleet into a station crew. Older saves give them back.
  • Your yard's ordered hulls went to the station crew instead of your storage.
  • The plan rack locked up when full of plans you already knew.
  • NPC miners held or spun at full docking rings forever.
  • Delivery missions sent you to stations that weren't built yet.
  • Your shields didn't switch back on after an energy cut.
  • Ship Status showed the wrong hull repair rate.
  • Numbers showed in reverse order in Kurdish and Arabic (203 / 320, -5, +15%).
  • Map search: the seller list scroll jumped and hovering leaked to the HUD.
  • Co-op: guests' Fleet tab went empty, and their losses didn't show.
  • Co-op: guests' officers kept a stuck relation, their station jobs, shelves and build bills didn't update, and stations they raised looked unfinished.
  • Co-op: blueprints and cargo-drone loot found by a guest went to the host.
  • Co-op: guests' jump gates and sector charts didn't count.
  • Co-op: guests saw debris fields as ready when another pilot had just opened them.
