Update 0.2.8: Smoother Games, Gather Here, Mass Enhance and a Tiny Galaxy
Thanks for all the feedback and support! if your request, suggestion, bug report isn't listed they are carried over to the next update!
NEW
- Gather Here: a new Run Supply mode (Fleet > select a ship > Run Supply > Set Up). Pick one of your stations or Storage Depots and the ship collects the spare stock of all your other stations into it, several stops per trip, respecting every keep and production reserve.
- Mass Enhance: every Enhance window has an "Enhance to" picker (+1 to +10) that shows the total cost and does every level in one go. Right-click a ship for "Enhance All Fitted...", which raises every fitted weapon and module to one level at once.
- Category sell rules: on your station's Stockpile page, right-click a group header (Ores, Refined, Weapons...) to put the whole group For Sale (keep N of each), Sell Only Above N, or Stop Selling All. A good you set by hand keeps its own setting.
- Tiny galaxy: a new 50-sector galaxy size for quick games and lower-end PCs. (Requires a New Game)
- Officers: rename them, change their portrait, and assign or replace station officers straight from Station > Manage > Jobs & Officers.
- Auto-Dismantle Derelicts: a switch in Station > Manage (off by default). Derelicts towed to that station are taken apart automatically, with the same parts as a manual dismantle (needs a Shipyard).
- Wiped-out factions now really fall: their money is gone, they stop asking for construction, and the Factions screen shows them as Destroyed. The story carries on without them.
- Ships with no engine or gyro fitted get weak emergency thrusters, so they can always crawl to a dock to be refitted.
CHANGED
- Ship handling has a ceiling per class: however many engines and gyros you stack, a Dreadnought can no longer turn or accelerate like a fighter. Upgrades still help up to the class limit. Top speed is unchanged.
- Combat drones now circle their target, guns pointed inward, and keep pace with a moving target.
- Drones on Defensive join your fight on your first hit on an enemy, instead of waiting 3 seconds.
- Every Drone Bay rebuilds its own drones at the same time, and rebuilding carries on while you are docked at a friendly station.
- Stations can hold up to 120 drones (was 30).
- Ships parked in a station's hangar are only available at that station.
- Your fleet ships remember the jobs you chose (Combat, Salvage...) through parking, presets, insurance and swaps.
- A gunner on Point Defense watches for rockets constantly.
- Text boxes: arrow keys, Home/End, clicking to place the cursor, copy and paste all work, and spaces show properly.
- In co-op, only the host can change Day Length.
FIXED
- Big lag spikes every few seconds in longer games, caused by faction station outfitting.
- Freezes of several seconds when opening a market or plan list, which could also crash the game with a graphics error.
- Random freezes of a few seconds while playing, caused by saving career progress.
- Faction trade ships created an order and then cancelled it on arrival.
- Faction trade ships gathered in a corner of a sector and kept returning there.
- Storage "Move All" moved only one weapon.
- The item info window stayed open while placing an extractor.
- Unlocking Power Cells didn't stick; the lock came back on each new stack.
- Ores set to "not for sale" at your station were put back on sale when new ore arrived.
- A drone slot card at a station could not be closed and covered the drone list.
- The "Derelict found" notice ignored its Fleet Reports switch.
- The Storage To/From lists and the station Assign picker showed the ship type instead of your ship's name.
- Mixed gun and laser barrels could lose their lasers when weapons were re-seated.
- Escape pods could end up outside the sector where they couldn't be picked up.
- A fleet ship that can't reach you (no gate road, no warp drive) now says so in the Fleet screen instead of silently staying behind.
- The bug report window: its tick boxes couldn't be unticked, and clicks went through to the menu behind it.
- Settings always showed Day Length as Short.
- Co-op: the Retraining and "Assign As" menus closed by themselves for guests.
- Co-op: a guest's loot collector landed among the station's visitors and couldn't be withdrawn.
- Co-op: buying with one pilot and selling with another gave huge trade XP with a shared wallet.
- Co-op: asteroid streams stuttered for guests.
