Choo choo! The Making of Stream Train
Hey Chat!
We’re almost there: Stream Train will soon be leaving the station. Before you venture into the Uncanny Valley, how about a quick look behind the scenes of its creation?
All aboard!
Streaming Comes First
The original idea was streaming, not the train.
We’ve always wanted to make a game with livestreaming at the heart of its mechanics. Content creation has become a global cultural phenomenon and, for many, even a dream career. And the fun of streaming comes with challenges, chaos, and the occasional prank (as long as there are no hard feelings, it’s for the clout!).
In Stream Train, you decide what to film, how to interact with your surroundings, and how far you’re willing to go to give the chat what it wants. Everything can become content: the environment, the creatures, and sometimes even your own friends.
While survival is key, it doesn’t hurt to make it entertaining, does it?
Why a Train?
Stream Train is a journey through strange and dangerous places.
A train is an original way to cross the valley while giving the expedition a clear sense of progress, without everyone getting completely lost along the way. Unless they get eaten by Bigfoot, of course.
It also becomes a moving home base where the group can come together, stream, and have fun between stops.
Streaming may be at the heart of the concept, but the train is what turns it into a real journey.
Finding the Right Pace
Early versions of the game were slower and more contemplative. Playtesting showed us that players wanted more action and shorter runs, so we listened and adjusted the experience accordingly.
We still want to give you enough time to explore at your own pace, just without making you wait forever for something terrible to happen.
Most of our original ideas remain in the game today, but they have been refined through playtests and community feedback.
It’s Showtime!
Our goal is for players to have fun role-playing as content creators. Creativity plays a major role: it’s up to you to discover how to interact with the environment, the creatures, and the tools at your disposal to keep your community entertained and earn those sweet donations!
There is no single way to cross the Uncanny Valley. And if you ever feel lost, the chat will probably have a few perfectly innocent suggestions for you.
Just remember: hiding isn’t always the most entertaining thing you can do on stream.
Sometimes, the best decision is to run.
Or to poke the monster.
We hope to keep expanding the world of Stream Train with new locations, creatures, and items, giving you even more ways to entertain your community. And if that involves throwing your friends off the train… why not? They can still run to catch up!
That’s all for today! Don’t forget to wishlist Stream Train and join our Discord so you don’t miss what’s coming next.
