Subsurface Update 0.4 — Customization

Update 0.4 is here! This update introduces player customization, allowing you to give your diver their own look before heading beneath the surface. Alongside customization, this update brings improvements to roulette, the selling system, settings, visual feedback, and a collection of fixes and polish.

Player Customization

A brand-new Customization System has been added!

Added customizable suit colors Added customizable visor colors Added hats Added Top Hat Added Crown Added Traffic Cone Added Baseball Cap Added the all-important Frog Hat Added a No Hat option Added separate SUIT / VISOR / HAT customization categories Added visual previews for customization options Added an Apply button Added a Random button to randomize your appearance Customization now synchronizes across multiplayer so other players can see your selected cosmetics Improved helmet/suit color consistency Removed unnecessary hat colliders to prevent hats from interfering with crouching and the player camera

Roulette Improvements

The submarine's roulette table received a major polish pass.

Added win confetti when winning a gamble Added a burning effect when losing a gamble Losing scrap now burns before disappearing instead of instantly vanishing Scrap placed into an active wager is now locked once the bet begins Locked wager items can no longer be picked back up during a spin Added improved roulette screen feedback The screen now displays your selected bet color and wager value Winning now displays the winning color, multiplier, and final value Losing now displays which color the roulette wheel landed on Improved overall visual feedback and readability while gambling

Selling & Quota Improvements

The sell station has received some love too.

Added a new physical quota display to the sell station The display shows your current collected scrap against the required quota Selling scrap now displays DEPOSIT ACCEPTED The amount contributed to the quota is displayed after each sale The display automatically returns to the current quota afterward Quota information reads directly from the current game state Sold scrap continues to physically pile up around the sell station for some extra visual chaos

New Achievements

Added new Steam achievements related to roulette:

Beginner's Luck — Win a roulette gamble Against the Odds — Win a roulette gamble by betting on Green All or Nothing — Wager at least $1,000 worth of scrap in a single roulette spin and win

Achievement publishing and availability on Steam have also been corrected.

Settings & Visual Fixes

Fixed an issue where switching to Borderless mode could cause the 3D game world to become extremely dark Improved how Borderless mode applies the current display resolution Additional settings improvements and cleanup

Eel Improvements

Improved the Eel's interaction with player flashlights Adjusted flashlight interference behavior to create more noticeable flickering instead of simply appearing to shut the flashlight off Improved the buildup of flashlight interference as the Eel gets closer

Fixes & Polish

Fixed hats interfering with crouching/camera movement Improved several UI/status displays throughout the submarine Added additional visual feedback to interactive systems Various smaller fixes and polish throughout the game
