Update 0.2.0: Furniture, Signs & Ladders!
Hello, everyone! How are the mining and factory building going?
This update brings furniture to brighten up your factory, along with a few handy tools to make life underground easier. Why not turn a corner of your factory into a home of your own?
Signs
Once your factory gets big enough, it can be hard to remember what you're making and where. That's where signs come in!
Add a short message and, if you like, an icon chosen from items you've acquired. Walk nearby and your message pops up in a speech bubble. The icon also appears on the map, so you can spot your production lines at a glance. Hover over it to read the message.
Signs come in wood and all metal varieties. Use them to label production lines or leave yourself a quick note. So many things on the to-do list...
Ladders
Early jetpacks have their limits. Falling into a hole, placing blocks to climb out, breaking them, then placing more... it gets a little tiring, doesn't it? Put down a ladder and climb right back up!
Press up or down to climb smoothly, and jump to let go. Movement speed bonuses also make you climb faster.
There are wooden and metal ladders, and every recipe produces 10 at a time. New games now start you with 100 wooden ladders, too. Digging straight down just got a little less daunting! Existing saves won't receive the starting ladders automatically.
Metal Platforms
Wood is no longer your only option! Platforms now come in all metal and alloy varieties, unlocking alongside each material's building pieces. Match your platforms to your blocks and give your factory a look of its own.
New Lights
We've added plenty of new decorative lights! Line up a few small lights or find the perfect lamp for your room. A little lighting can make a big difference.
Floor Trims
The wooden floor trim, which couldn't previously be crafted, now has a recipe: 1 Terranium ingot makes 10 trims. You can make these in either the Fabricator or the Building Fabricator.
We've also added 38 metal trims. Each recipe uses 1 matching ingot to make 10 trims in the Building Fabricator. Right-click any trim to rotate it by 90 degrees, with four directions to choose from.
Use them along floors and ceilings, or cut an opening in a background wall and build yourself a window frame!
Lots of Furniture
Three unique furniture pieces for each metal and alloy, for a total of 114 new pieces!
From cute plushies to some rather unusual objects, there's plenty to choose from. Find your favorites and decorate that factory!
Other Additions and Fixes
- Stock Warehouses can now replenish fluid ducts, building blocks, platforms and background walls.
- Added a starred T0 main quest explaining Stock Warehouses, with an English tutorial video. It demonstrates a Warehouse set to export only, a Stock Warehouse set to import only, and a processing machine set to IN/OUT.
- Added item bridge pipes and dedicated icons for both item and fluid bridges.
- Fixed right-click rotation for fluid bridge pipes and added rotation instructions to their tooltips.
- Improved the sign icon picker's responsiveness. Plants are grouped by cultivar, while procedural rocks and ore powders are grouped into shared choices.
- Fixed ladders remaining in the climbing state after reaching the ground at the bottom.
- BioLab cultivar research now shows delivered and required material quantities.
- Gene edits for growth speed, yield and other plant stats no longer require plant specimens or biomass. Regular cultivar research still requires materials; gene editing still takes the same time and power.
- Research unlock previews now show one representative building piece per material to reduce clutter.
- Updated the final tutorial message to encourage visiting different worlds as you develop your factory and drill toward the bottom of your base.
TerraMachina has only just launched, and it's been wonderful to see so many of you playing. There's still plenty of balancing and bug fixing to do, so please keep sharing your thoughts in reviews and on the discussion board!
Until next time—happy mining!
