Demo update: council plans, contact reports and battle aftermath

Jeremy Cabaccang

Council advice now stays with you after the meeting. Before a battle, a new report shows who's at contact. After a victory, you choose what the army does with the losses and spoils.

A council plan you can follow

When you accept a civil proposal, the map shows the current course and the next order needed to begin it. Choose an eligible officer to supervise the work; accepting the plan alone does not start construction or spend the assignment cost. Once work begins, the course names the officer and shows the days remaining. At the next council, you can see how the previous decision is going before choosing another plan.

The current course tracks an officer's work at Puyang.

The next council remembers the work already under way.

Read the field before committing

The new contact report puts both armies side by side. It shows the officers leading them, troops at contact, and banners still approaching. The report keeps the familiar choices to fight, auto-resolve, withdraw, or seek single combat where a duel is available. Yellow Turban bands now bring a duelable commander to player encounters, so meeting them no longer rules out that challenge.

Both commanders and the duel choice appear on a Yellow Turban contact report.

Give the order after victory

A won field battle or siege now ends with one more decision. Tend your wounded by spending gold and grain to restore 15-25% of your losses. Offer service to the defeated and gamble for 5-15% of their losses as Peasant Militia. Or take extra gold and supplies without replacing troops.

The siege version uses the same three orders. When you take supplies from a captured settlement, those goods and food come from its stores. The numbers use the battle's casualty totals; there is no separate prisoner or wounded roster to manage.

The siege version accounts for the captured settlement's stores.

The demo also received a recent combat graphics fix: zooming or resizing keeps the pixel art clearer, and battlefield trees and rocks now meet their ground shadows. The campaign limit remains 50 days per save.
