Demo update 1.0.19: Legendary abilities & animated scrolls

Hello, tidy librarians! Next Fest starts tomorrow, so we gave the library one last dusting. Thank you all for playing the demo and sharing your thoughts, they shape every update.

Legendary abilities

• The things you eat now have proper names: Shell of Hermes (sprint), Phoenix Egg (charged jump), Mirror of Pharos (teleport) and Apple of Knowledge (sonar).
• Every ability you find adds a hand-drawn card to the Tutorial page, with its logo, its name and a short tip.
• The tips show the key you actually use, so if you remapped your controls, the tutorial follows.
• Mirror of Pharos now fades you out in purple and lands you with a little burst of sparks.

Living HUD scrolls

• The scrolls on the sides of your screen now roll up and down like an ancient scroll, with a soft bounce when they land.
• The paper keeps its shape and never stretches, whatever it is showing.

Comfort & settings

• New Accessibility > Scroll flashing option. It is Off by default, so the ghost scrolls in empty slots stay calm and still. Turn it on if you love the shimmer!
• Section titles in Settings are now centred on their scroll.
• Time Played now appears in the pause menu and on the ending screen. It only counts while you play: it stops whenever the pause menu is open.

Tidier library

• The culture names on the central map plates sit in their right place again.
• Scrolls lying on the floor in front of a shelf no longer get in the way when you place others.
• Scrolls that were ghosts for a moment always go back to their normal look.
• The cats’ wooden sword (a new toy!) now stands proudly upright in your hand.

Coming next

• Steam Next Fest, 19-26 October: come say hi!
• Full release on 5 November. Wishlist the game so you don’t miss it!

(Restart Steam if you don’t see the update yet.)

Thank you for playing, and for helping tidy up the library!
