Demo update 1.0.35: I listened to your feedback, readability improved!
Hello, tidy librarians!
Many of you told me it was hard to tell which case and which shelf a scroll belongs to. You were right, and I listened: this update is all about making the library easier to read at a glance. Thank you so much for your feedback.
Every shelf has its own stamp
- Each shelf now carries its own stamp: the shape of its section, the colour of its culture, and a symbol.
- The stamps are on both sides of the case, so you can read them from the atrium and from the corridor.
- Each case’s header shows its emblem on the same shape, lit from the start.
The atrium model shows them all
- Each window of the big model in the middle of the atrium shows the same stamps as its case.
- Now you can see which case and which shelf a scroll belongs to before you walk there.
- A stamp lights up when its shelf is full, so you always know what’s left.
- Click a case’s emblem and a spark flies to its window on the model.
New ability: Eratosthenes’ Sundial
- Just look around and you might find it.
- Press R (or R3) and it lights up the window and the shelf of the scroll in your right hand.
- A trail of sparks leads you all the way to its case.
New accessibility options
- “Map spark trail” sets how long the trail stays (2–60 seconds).
- “Light on shelves” turns off the blue glow on empty slots if you prefer clean symbols.
And also
- Pharos Mirror: one click on a window shows the sparks, and a double-click travels there.
- A new section at the end of the tutorial lists the abilities you haven’t found yet, and what each does.
- New credits screen (“You restored the Library of Alexandria!”) with all your stats.
- A new Interface volume slider. Main volume at 0 now silences menus and scroll paper too.
- HUD scrolls roll up and unroll when they change, and nothing gets cut off anymore.
- The cats meow half as often.
- Everything new is translated into Spanish, Latin American Spanish, French, German and Bulgarian.
Coming next
- Steam Next Fest runs until October 26: come say hi!
If you give it another go, I’d love to know if it reads better now.
(Restart Steam if you don’t see the update yet.)
Thank you for playing, and for helping tidy up the library!
