Dev Diary #1: New Ways to Make Things Explode
Hi everyone!
Welcome to the first Want a Bomb? dev diary. I've been sharing short clips of the game, so I thought it was time to give these questionable mining methods a proper introduction.
A mountain, some friends, and far too many explosives
Want a Bomb? is an online co-op mining game for up to four players. Blow up the terrain, collect the minerals you uncover, and sell them to buy more explosives and equipment.
Start with a small blast, earn enough for something bigger, and see how much of the mountain is still standing. Keeping your friends out of the blast radius is also an option.
Here's the first gameplay trailer:
Why throw a bomb when you can launch it?
I've added a bomb launcher. Throwing explosives by hand is fun, but firing them at the mountain has a very different feel. I'm working on making each shot satisfying, from the launch to the moment it hits.
We might need a bigger cargo bay
There's a cargo drone, too. It's another way to move supplies around while the ground beneath you becomes less and less convenient to walk on.
Of course, once there's a cargo bay, the next question is how much stuff can fit in it.
Even the key is a bomb
I've also added a chest and a key. A perfectly ordinary key would have felt out of place, so this one has a fuse. Opening a chest is now a little louder than usual.
Thanks for following along
Thank you to everyone who's watched the clips, shared an idea, or added Want a Bomb? to their wishlist. It means a lot to see people enjoying what I'm making.
I'll share more here as development continues. If this looks like your kind of co-op chaos, you can wishlist the game and follow it on Steam.
What would you try first: the launcher, the drone, or the explosive key?
