Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Community Update - October

Saber Interactive

Hello Space Marines,

It’s time for our monthly Community Update! We’re keeping things a little lighter this time around, as the team is fully focused on cooking up new content for Patch 16 and beyond. Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty to show you soon!

Now, let’s discuss the most recent topics around Space Marine 2, as well as our latest milestone and the upcoming community events!

RECENT TOPICS

Reddit Q&A with Game Director

Recently, we hosted a Q&A on Reddit, and got many entries. Game Director Dmitry Grigorenko answered a bunch of questions from you. The entire retranscription is here! Read it now

Hotfixes 15.1 / 15.2

This month, we deployed the Hotfix 15.1 and Hotfix 15.2 to address key issues and improve overall gameplay balance. Here’s a quick summary of some of the changes brought to the game:

One-Handed Thunder Hammer & Power Maul: Buffed overall damage, sped up charge time, and improved movesets.

Melta Rifles: Improved damage range fall off and increased base ammo/magazine capacity.

Game modes: Various balance changes and bug fixes in Chaos Siege, and resolved multiple bugs in Crucible.

QoL & Fixes: Added brief invulnerability after knockback, fixed item spawns out of bounds, and resolved cloth/robe customization color bugs.

Twitch Drops

We’ve taken good note of your discontent surrounding our last Drops campaign, where the Victrix Honour Guard Storm Shield was available through Twitch’s “Support A Streamer” feature and required a purchase. We will make this shield available in the Refinement & Redemption shop with the launch of Patch 17. It’ll be unlockable with Requisition Points, as this was the case for our previous Drops.

PATCH 16

Patch 16 will bring no less than 6 new Heroic Weapons. Let’s unveil them:

  • Omnissian Axe: holding the attack generates and maintains a big shock zone.
  • Heavy Bolt Pistol: fire rate is increased when shooting without aiming, and the damage is greatly increased in close range.
  • Bolt Rifle: rhythmic firing of single shots gradually increases damage.
  • Las Fusil: doesn’t need to be charged and slowly regenerates ammo.
  • Plasma Incinerator: damage is increased when overheating.
  • Infernus Heavy Bolter: has an underbarrel flamethrower.

Also, here’s a first teaser for the upcoming Mortifactors Cosmetic Pack:

And to the newest Space Marines among you, welcome! Glory to you and the Emperor!

FOCUS TOGETHER COMMUNITY IDEAS

This month, we took a deep dive into your ideas on Focus Together to get your feedback on various features and gameplay elements. Here are some of the most popular community ideas, along with responses directly from our Game Director, Dmitry Grigorenko:

1. Account-wide progression in Crucible Mode

Community idea : Make Crucible progression account-wide rather than character-bound to reduce the grind and allow more freedom to switch classes.

Dmitry Grigorenko: It’s been only a few days since the latest hotfix that fixed various manipulations with difficulty of the mode and we want to give players a bit more time and gather more data before making any harsh decisions, like suggested. We do want to keep the progression per class, but the speed of the progression and balance of specific penances will be adjusted if necessary once we have more data. We just need more time to analyse it.

2. Mandatory team perks

Community idea : Restrict access to Absolute difficulty so that players must have a Team Perk equipped. This prevents under-leveled or under-prepared players from joining top-tier missions and improves mission success rates. Dmitry Grigorenko: We are planning to implement a level lock to end game activities like Hard Stratagems and Hard Siege. Team perk restriction seems very specific and currently not planned.

3. Blood Angels Champion customization

Community Idea : Update and expand customization options for the Blood Angels Champion cosmetic parts to better match Chapter lore and armor sets.

Dmitry Grigorenko: I don’t want to spoil things and say yes or no to this. Lets just say there will be some major improvements in this area further down the line.

4. Omni-Scrambler for the Tactical

Community Idea : Add the Omni-Scrambler wargear to the Tactical class to offer more customization options.

Dmitry Grigorenko: Omni-Scrambler is a very specific device in the lore that is not available for Intercessors. However, actual Deathwatch backpacks and devices are currently in plans for Tactical.

5. MK VI Greave Emblems

Community Idea : Allow emblems/decals to be placed on the upper area of the Mk VI "Corvus" greaves so players can apply appropriate Chapter, squad, and campaign markings.

Dmitry Grigorenko: Yes this is currently planned.

6. Backpack Emblem customization

Community Idea : Allow players to apply emblems and decals to power backpacks, similar to the existing options for knee markings.

Dmitry Grigorenko: This is something that has been sitting in our backlog for a while. We will come back to it once we finish with already planned customization improvements, since those will be more impactful.

7. Starting equipment selection

Community Idea : Allow players to select their starting equipment/grenades in loadouts to better support specific class builds and playstyles.

Dmitry Grigorenko: We would like to keep the exploration and randomness aspect of PvE. With the abundance of equipment restoration perks this would mean that everyone would just pick a melta bomb.

8. Sniper hood customization

Community Idea : Add more hooded head options for the Sniper class and allow hoods to be recolored to better fit different Chapter color schemes.

Dmitry Grigorenko: Yes this is currently in the works right now.

That’s it for this month!

As always, we want to thank you for the unwavering support, and we remain attentive to your feedback with every update.

Don’t forget you can follow Focus on all our socials ( Instagram , Facebook , Threads , X and Bluesky ) and join the community on Discord now!

See you next month, Space Marines.
