Warwake Demo — Release 0.2.0
Fixes
Settings menu
- Menu text no longer piles up.
- Resolution shows your monitor's real resolutions. The list used to be four fixed entries (720p / 1080p / 1440p / 4K) and changing it did nothing. It now lists what your display actually supports; windowed mode never offers a size larger than your desktop, and borderless always uses the desktop resolution.
- Windowed, borderless and fullscreen now stick.
- The Display page shows the game's real state (mode, resolution, VSync, frame-rate limit) instead of fixed defaults.
- VSync and Frame Rate Limit now take effect.
Below Settings are now working properly
- Audio: master, music, effects, voice/radio, ocean ambience and interface volume; dynamic range (Night / Medium / Full); mute when the game is in the background.
- Controls: mouse sensitivity and optics (aim) sensitivity; controller look and optics sensitivity; controller dead zone; southpaw layout; vibration (the game now has controller rumble for your salvos, hits you take and torpedo strikes); hold or toggle for the optics and the tactical chart; "hold alternatives".
- Gameplay: pause when the game window loses focus (single player, off by default); auto-center camera (off by default).
- Graphics: overall quality and every quality group (texture, view distance, shadows, global illumination, reflections, anti-aliasing, effects, post processing) now apply and are saved; 3D resolution scale; dynamic resolution; motion blur; film grain (now a scale on each weather's own grain, 100 % = the intended look); chromatic aberration.
- Display: brightness; safe area.
- Interface: HUD mode, HUD scale and panel opacity (these were saved where the HUD never read them); tactical plot scale and orientation; reticle size; objective marker opacity; input prompt style (auto / keyboard / gamepad).
- Accessibility: subtitles on/off, size, background and background opacity, speaker names; captions for the bridge's voice alerts ("Torpedo, starboard side!" etc.); three genuinely different colour-blind palettes (deuteranopia, protanopia, tritanopia — they all looked the same before); high-contrast threat markers; reduced motion (now also calms camera shake); camera shake, camera roll and screen flash strength.
- Defaults were chosen so that nothing about the game changes until you change it.
End of battle
- The after-action report now opens by itself when the result camera finishes. Before, the game waited for you to press Enter.
Islands and running aground
- No more running aground in open water.
- Torpedoes hit real land instead of exploding in open water near an island.
- AI ships stay off the islands.
Ship-to-ship collisions
- Hulls touch where they look like they touch.
- Scraping past another ship no longer stops both ships dead. Speed is lost when you hit something head-on, not when you brush along its side.
- A ship that is aground can't be shoved further, and AI ships ease off the throttle instead of ramming a friendly ship ahead of them.
Other
- Ship wakes: the wake now follows each ship's actual path, in straight lines and in turns.
- New: tutorial hints in the comms log during your first battle (aim and fire, optics, torpedo tracks, damage control).
- Fixed a box character shown in front of "Resume Battle" in the pause menu.
- All new and changed text is translated into English, Simplified Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and German.
