Announcement: Public Lobbies (RESTART STEAM AND UPADTE TO PLAY)
Who's Cheating? was designed from the start to be played with friends in private lobbies: a group on voice chat, reading each other and working together to find the cheater.
We introduced public lobbies so that players without a group could still enjoy the game. Unfortunately, the results have been the opposite of what we intended. In many public matches the Security Guard shoots immediately, before the other players have had a chance to play, and the round ends within a minute. This is not the experience we designed, and we are taking steps to address it.
Guard Shooting Cooldown
The next update adds a new optional setting for the host, available in both public and private lobbies:
- The guard's shotgun remains locked until the cheater reaches 70% of their chip goal, followed by a five-second countdown.
- Once unlocked, it stays unlocked for the rest of the round, even if the cheater loses chips.
- Until then, the guard may only shoot a player they have correctly confirmed as the Jester or the Robber.
- The guard's screen shows the lock status and the countdown.
- The setting is disabled by default. The host can enable it in the lobby, below Security Guesses.
We are reviewing the future of public lobbies and will share any further changes here. The game is best experienced with friends: create a Private Room and share the code with four or more players. If you are looking for a group, you can find one here on our Discord.
Thank you for your feedback. It is a shame its coming out like this and we are sorry
