ZONE L.O.S.T. Demo - Hotfix #3 (v0.1.6)

Hey everyone,

Thank you for all the reports, logs and clips - this update is built almost entirely from them. The biggest fixes: players getting stuck on the ground after a knockdown (especially after the Grow gun), monsters running at about half their intended speed, and the blue screen on Intel graphics.

Graphics

- Intel graphics (Iris Xe, UHD and similar): turned off a rendering feature that did not work correctly on these GPUs. The game should now start and draw the level normally.

- Performance: the lamp optimizer works again on the level - distant lamps and lamps behind you (including flickering ones) are switched off together with their shadows.

Getting up after a knockdown

- Fixed players sometimes not being able to get up with Space, no matter what they did.

- Fixed getting stuck on the ground after being hit with the Grow gun (the ceiling check grew with your size, so a big player could never stand up indoors).

- Fixed lying on an item or another player not counting as "on the ground".

- Fixed size desync: if you were knocked down while big, you stayed huge on your own screen while your friends saw you normal and floating in the air. Your size now returns to normal for everyone when the effect ends, even while you are lying down.

Monsters

- Fixed monsters moving at about half their intended speed on high frame rates. This also fixes the "moonwalking" - leg animations now match the real movement speed. Heads up: chasing monsters are noticeably faster now, this is how fast they were always supposed to be.

- Patrol speed: Patrol monster 1.0 -> 0.9, Engineer 0.6 -> 0.9.

- Engineer chase speed: 3.0 -> 3.2 (same as the Patrol monster).

- All walk, warning and chase animations re-fitted to the new speeds.

- Fixed the Slow gun slowing monsters twice as much as intended.

Level

- Level 1 now spawns 6 fuses, so you no longer have to search the whole level for the last one.

- Fixed some items hanging in the air after the level loads until someone touched them.

- The escape phase sirens can be heard again (their sound only reached 2 m, now 12 m). They are kept fairly quiet so they don't drown out everything else, and you can turn them down with the in-game music volume slider.

Players

- Falling on purpose (Z) or being picked up by a friend no longer knocks your glasses off. Glasses still can fly off from real hits.

- Glasses that fall off should no longer drop through the floor.

- A carried player no longer knocks down the people he bumps into.

- A thrown player now knocks down other players for 1 second or until he hits the floor or a wall. The player who threw him is never hit.

- Riding a wheelchair or chair: you no longer fall when you crash into objects.

- No more head bob while sitting in a wheelchair or on a chair.

Grow gun

- The grown player's own camera no longer shakes from his steps.

- Camera shake for nearby players is much weaker: 0.3 -> 0.1 per size step, max 0.6 -> 0.2.

Wheelchair

- When the fat guy breaks the wheelchair, you now hear it break, and it falls apart into pieces (frame, wheels and backrest) that you can pick up.

Anti-Gravity gun

- The green ghost trail is much more transparent and appears less often (every 0.12 s -> every 0.4 s), so you can see through it again.

Lobby and menu

- Create Lobby now shows a short tip: the player with the most powerful PC in your group should host the lobby.

- New "Invite friends" sign in the lobby: walk up to the button and press E to open the Steam invite window.

- The crowd panic sound after pressing START GAME is now h

- The Discord gun and the other link guns now open the link in your default browser.

- Voice chat volume slider now goes up to 200%, so quiet friends are easier to hear.

Known issues

- If you die while big after a Grow gun hit, your body may not appear for your friends to revive. We are looking into it.

If something still breaks, please send us a report from the in-game form - it includes the logs we need.

See you at Steam Next Fest, October 19-26!
