Update notes for October 25
These are today's changes to Bravemech: The Century War, from version 0.73.399 to 0.73.411.
v0.73.411
- Your first piloted fight now teaches the STATUS view (MMB) and the zoom (Z), and the tags on those buttons flash until you have tried them.
v0.73.410
- In ship fights, a beam gun fires from where the ship is: the ship no longer moves into a firing line first.
v0.73.409
- Fixed the repairs lesson after your first battle: its gold ring now points at Ship hub instead of a greyed-out Previous button.
v0.73.408
- Rounds now animate in flight and come out of the barrel. Machine-gun rounds flicker and shed embers, shock rings slide back along a rifle shot, cannon shells and artillery burn as they fly, and beam bolts crackle in a turning helix. Each one keeps its colour for its weapon grade.
- Every gun has its own muzzle flash, pointed down the barrel and moving with it: a sharp flash for machine guns and rifles, a fireball with a smoke ring for cannons, a ring of plasma for beams, and fire and smoke out of the back of a launcher.
- Hits look like what hit you. Bullets throw sparks off the armour, cannon shells burst, and energy splashes back off the plate. A shot that hits the ground throws up dirt, sand or snow.
- The charge beam starts with a flare at the barrel and ends in a splash where it hits, and each grade is a bigger beam.
- A shield that breaks now shatters, with shards blowing outward.
- Mechs without their own sword animation leave a sweep of light when they swing. Blades that meet flash and throw sparks.
- Speed lines now show on ground stages too while you boost, and dashes and landings kick up dust.
- When a mech loses an arm, its head or its legs, the part breaks off and tumbles away. The joint keeps burning and sparking afterwards. A badly damaged mech smokes, sparks and leaks coolant, and its eyes flicker.
- In ship fights, beams, shells and missiles now look like the weapons they are. A beam takes its gun's grade colour, from the charge glow to the splash where it lands. A lock-on closes on the target first, and a hit hull glows and vents gas.
- On the sector map, a destroyed ship or mech explodes and sends a shockwave across the hexes. Barrages arc between pieces or drop from orbit, a place that changes hands lights up, and damaged pieces trail smoke.
- A Buster's shield is now the same size as a Vanguard's.
v0.73.407
- Fixed the opening's first move: following the gold ring at "move the ship one hex" no longer loops back to the ship's menu.
v0.73.405
- PC: Settings now has Fullscreen, Borderless and Windowed, shows the resolution you are on, and lists the resolutions you can pick for each mode.
- PC: in Fullscreen on Windows your screen switches to the resolution you pick. Borderless draws the game at that resolution and scales it to fill the screen.
v0.73.404
- In the Story, the Cargo room is now the ship's hold: its card shows the supply tank, and inside you see what a lane jump and each ship gun's volley cost, where to refill, and the convoys you are guarding.
- In your first Story, Cargo opens when you take your first convoy job.
v0.73.403
- Enemy mechs no longer flicker between their boost pose and the recover pose when their booster is empty. The first rival flies smoothly now.
- Radio chatter now shows to the right of the talking pilot's portrait instead of behind it.
- Booster glow is now off by default. You can turn it on in Settings > Video.
v0.73.402
- Six mechs no longer show booster flames painted into their boost animation, including the Strike Blade and the first rival. The game's own boost trails and lighting show the burn instead.
v0.73.401
- Docking during the tutorial no longer sends you back to the same Dock hint after you leave the port.
- Leaving the Brig during the tutorial no longer brings its hint straight back.
- Tutorial hints for newly opened rooms now show once and stop following you. They never pop up inside another room.
v0.73.400
- Ships and mechs on the Sector map are back to their normal size. Only a megaboss still stands bigger than the rest.
v0.73.399
- Fixed a gold box that could stay stuck over the Ship hub after you left a room with the keyboard.
Thank you for playing, and please keep telling us what you think in the Discussions.
