Demo 1.7: The Homeowners Have Arrived!

Hi everyone! Steam Next Fest has begun, and we've brought our biggest demo update yet. The biggest change: the houses aren't empty anymore, the homeowners are waiting for you!

Highlights

• Homeowners: They greet you on every job and watch the whole move. They react instantly to items hitting walls, broken parts and thrown boxes. Each one has their own personality and a favorite item. Keep them happy for a big tip, but make them too angry and they'll come after you! In the demo you'll meet Picky Auntie and Easygoing Uncle.
• Training area: Practice with boxes, equipment, the pallet jack, throwing and jumping on the lower floor of the Warehouse.
• New equipment and surprises: Inflatable mats, trampolines, gas canisters that can explode and toilets you can break. Break one in a client's house and the repair bill is on you!
• Better connections: Accurate ping, smoother players and items, and faster connections with Steam friends. The lobby browser shows estimated ping for every room, and the host can kick players. Players who join late or reconnect now return to the job correctly.

Other New Features

• Redesigned job sheet (J), radar (X) and map (M). Added pinging with the middle mouse button.
• Hardware stores selling equipment in the Warehouse and in town, a gazebo to relax in at the Warehouse, and two new decorations for your truck.
• New graphics presets, an FOV setting and overall FPS improvements.
• Many improvements to controller (gamepad) support.

Carrying & Truck

• Fixed items suddenly launching and jittering, and characters clipping into items during two-player carrying.
• The truck no longer gets launched when getting in or out, when the driver is pulled out through the door, or when it touches the ground. Loads no longer come loose on slopes.
• Tailgate: press E to slide items in; if they don't fit, hold to force it shut.

Economy

• Job pay now goes down with item damage, and destroyed items add a contract penalty.
• The time bonus has been removed, and the end-of-job receipt has been simplified.
