A new look for the world: real ground, living fire, grass in the wind

Leifyy

Last night the whole world got a new coat of paint. Here is what changed, with pictures from the game: before on the left, after on the right.

Real ground and stone

The ground now has pebbles, twigs, soil and cracks, and stone floors and walls have relief that catches the light. Each land has its own surface: earth on the moors, sand in the desert, snow and ice in the north, mud in the fens and sandstone in the tombs.

Living fire

Torches, braziers and camp fires burn with real flames, and the air shimmers over the big ones. Explosions roll out in fire and smoke. The Smolder Pits glow in their cracks.

Grass, wind and weather

Grass sways in the wind, bends under your feet and stays pressed where you walked. Trees and bushes move. Low fog drifts over the moors, and in the fens lightning lights up the whole land.

Small things

  • Your steps sound different on grass, stone, mud, water, snow and sand, and leave prints in snow, mud and sand.
  • Crows take off when you come near, fireflies drift in the woods, and rats run from you in the crypts.
  • The dead of the first lands crumble to ash.
  • Light ripples on the bed of shallow water, and your steps splash at the shore.
  • Dexterity now also makes weapon attacks faster.
  • Pet: with the pet panel open, Ctrl + right click on an item feeds your pet that one item. A wish from a player.

Loading screens

While a zone loads, a picture of that land shows with a line of its story.

Early Access starts on October 30. Thank you for all your ravens!
