Riders of the Underground Features
There are many different ways to explore in Core Keeper, whether you’re walking, riding in a minecart, sailing, driving, or even teleporting across the underground. As of right now, players can add riding mounts, thanks to the new Saddle feature, and leaping over pits using the new Hookshot to that list!
Use the Saddle to turn ordinary cattle into noble steeds by approaching your desired mount and simply placing the Saddle upon it. You’ll even be able to access a brand-new Saddle UI where you can change your mount’s name and adjust its behaviour for when you’re not riding it. When you’re done, you can remove the saddle and return your mount to its former “cattle” status.
The more daring among you might enjoy swinging around the underground using the new Hookshot, which functions similarly to a grappling hook by latching onto solid surfaces like walls and pulling the player over pits and water. Spiderman 2000, cry your heart out!
We’ve also added a brand-new sub-biome to the mix, found amongst the Forgotten Ruins. Introducing the Moss sub-biome, a dark, humid, and surprisingly lush ecosystem that’s home to a docile new cattle known as the Orex. Don’t let its raptor-like appearance fool you, Orexes aren’t interested in hunting big game – they prefer to spend their time scarfing down insects and snuffling Moorshrooms!
As you take advantage of 1.3’s new methods of exploration, you might encounter one or two Pet Eggs on your travels. Meet the frog-like Hoppet, the adorable Azeos Jr, and…another surprise pet you’ll have to discover all on your own. All our new pets have their own powers, mannerisms, and colour variations, but we’ll leave discovering those up to you!
Community feedback is something that’s always at the forefront of our minds during development, and there were a couple of key features that you’d expressed an interest in that we’re delighted to include in 1.3. First up, we’ve added some new quality-of-life features based on your feedback such as a key bind to cycle through loadouts and the ability to compare gear – something we’ve had lots of requests for! Gear comparisons will allow players to optimise their builds with ease and we’re very pleased to be able to offer this as a feature. In addition to this, we also made the paintbrush area size adjustable, worked on a load of balancing for the game, and we made improvements to Mages and Summoners that we’re excited for you to uncover as you play.
We could talk forever about all the new additions to 1.3, but we think it’s time you jumped right in and saw them for yourselves! Of course, you can read a full list of patch notes for this update here for a more in-depth look at what to expect from this update.
