diffiCULT: The Halloween Update is here!

Ouz Games

We've been working nonstop for the past few weeks. Thank you for every bug report and every bit of feedback on Steam and Discord. Much of this update comes straight from you. Grab your lantern and lock your door. Here's what's new. NEW SOLO ROLE: THE WITCH The Witch plays for nobody but herself. Lightning guess: At night the Witch can secretly watch any house. If she correctly guesses the role of the person inside, lightning strikes them down. If she guesses wrong, the lightning hits the Witch herself. Unstoppable magic: The strike ignores Doctors, Stewards and blockers. Cannot be converted: The cult can't recruit her. Last one standing: The Witch wins only if she's the last player alive. While she lives, nobody else can claim victory. NEW CULT ROLE: INFLATOR CULTIST Curse a player and their voice turns squeaky with helium while their head slowly swells... until it pops before the vote. Good luck making your case in a cartoon voice. NEW CULT ROLE: DEFILER CULTIST The cult's answer to the Bishop. The Defiler sprays unholy water on a target and blocks their night action. HALLOWEEN CONTENT 3 new spooky skins: Witch, Skeleton and Skeleton Knight. Unlock them with gold in the new skins menu. Ghosts of the dead: Dead players now drift around the town as glowing spirits. Only other dead players can see them, so the living stay in the dark. A darker night: A new, eerier night sky. Street torches light up when night falls and flicker in the wind. Rising from the grave: On the new end-of-game screen, the winners gather on a 3D stage. Dead winners wave from their graves. REDESIGNED INTERFACE Brand-new main menu, with a skins page where you can preview every skin before unlocking it. New lobby Book: Role settings, house rules and the player list are now easier to read. Hosts can kick players from here. New pause menu, HUD and voting screen. Votes now land on a player's card as a thrown knife GAMEPLAY AND BALANCE The Bishop and Defiler can now block everyone: Town, Cult or Solo. A blocked Doctor, Steward, Bishop or Defiler loses their action for that night. New Quick Play role distribution: Small lobbies: a fairer number of cultists. 10+ players: one slot can go to either the Cult or a Solo role. Solo roles no longer take Town slots. New lobby rule: "Hide Dead Roles": Hosts can hide the roles of dead players for a more mysterious game. Fixes to the night turn order, the night results, and how roles interact with win conditions. COMFORT AND ACCESSIBILITY Some of you reported motion sickness, and we took it seriously: New Field of View setting (60–100). New Head Bob setting, now off by default. New Camera Effects setting that tones down drunk wobble, blur and other screen shakes. A steadier first-person camera while walking and running. Your hat or hood no longer gets in the way of your view. LANGUAGES Simplified Chinese (简体中文) is now available! When creating a lobby you can set its language, and you can filter lobbies by language in the lobby browser. PERFORMANCE New Low and Medium graphics quality options. FPS is capped at 60 by default, so your graphics card no longer runs at full power for nothing. You can change this in the settings. Fewer stutters in the lobby and in-game. BUG FIXES Dozens of bugs are fixed, including: Players getting stuck while holding a beer or a cigarette. Inquisitor results revealing a player's real role. A clear message when a connection drops or the host leaves. Missing letters in the Turkish end-of-game screen. Several issues with the arcade games (Blackjack and Ping Pong). Thanks for playing DiffiCULT. If you run into any problems, please send them in with the in-game bug report button. Don't trust anyone this Halloween... especially your neighbor. — The 411 Game Studio Team
