GONE Fishing

GONE FISHING 1.0 FULL RELEASE IS NOW LIVE!!!

GONE Studios

YOO...... After 14 long months.... It is my great privilege to bring you GONE Fishing 1.0

There were three top priorities that were required to bring the game to a proper 1.0 state.

  • A proper ending
  • A new system for fishing progression
  • Stability

Ending:

  • GONE Fishing now has a proper ending that will give you a feeling of both accomplishment and understanding of what your purpose is in this strange land.
  • Once you defeat the boss, you will unlock the MOBY and become a true JeremyWade apprentice

Progression

  • We wanted a new system that allowed for customizable progression based on the player's choices.
  • The problem with the line/rod/sinker system is you don't ever interface with these upgrades once they are purchased, and they provide no real decision making from the player
  • The answer to this problem was trinkets. With 8 unique trinkets to choose and upgrade from, players can choose how they want to buff themselves and choose their own progression path. In addition, trinkets aren't just a passive buff. When the trinkets activate, you receive massive buffs, and you get to see how much they actually help you with progression.
  • Trinkets are a form of gambling, and the GONE Fishing player base is 100% gambling addicts

Stability

  • GONE Fishing has always been plagued with bugs and Jank, Jank can sometimes be excused for the comedy factor; however, there is no benefit or excuse to having countless bugs.
  • Some of the fixes are in this patch; however, ALOT of both major and minor bugs fixes were introduced with the smaller patches that came out in September and October.
  • In addition to the bug fixes, countless replication issues, networking optimizations, and game crashes were also fixed.
  • Stability is fundamental to an enjoyable experience, so I am proud to say this game has come ALONG way from our EA release and it is now rare to encounter issues.

I've said it before and ill say it again....

LOVE YOU LONG TIME

INTRODUCING GONE FISHING 1.0

THE NEW 1.0 SEASON IS UPON US

With the introduction of a new season... that means there is also a new mythical fish....

  • The Rhizo can be found lurking in deep waters on the Lake map.
  • This new mythical fish is one of the most challenging to catch yet
  • Defeating the boss and acquiring the MOBY rod is going to be required for this fish

Leaderboard and Profile Reset

With GONE Fishing now officially exiting Early Access and Season 1.0 beginning, the leaderboard and player profiles will be wiped. Some legacy data will be kept so you can still view your history.

  • With 1.0, all of your save files will still work. I have ensured backwards compatibility so that you do not lose any of your progress.
  • Due to all of the changes to progression and all of the new content, I HIGHLY recommend starting a new save file to ensure you get the best experience. However, I have ensured that all of the new content is accessible on your existing saves incase you are limited on time.
  • After November 20th, old saves will no longer be able to migrate to the new version, so be sure to do so before then

The Lake Entity's full form

Jeb has some new bait on the shelf. Be warned if you fish with this bait, things may get... serious.

I won't say much as I do not want to spoil the ending of GONE Fishing; however, I can say that you are in for a serious challenge. Go and visit Jeb the trader ingame to learn more.

CLINKET THE TRADER

  • Clinket introduced 8 new buffs that can combo extremely well.
  • These trinkets are shared, so if you buy a trinket or upgrade a trinket, your friends will receive the trinket as well.
  • The trinkets were designed with the intention of comboing with each other and other upgrades.
  • One of the most powerful combinations is the Deadman's Hand, Captain's Stopwatch , and Hungry hook. When all three of these trinkets activate at the same time, the very moment your bobber hits the water, you will have caught a fish, and it will be in your inventory.

What you decide to combo is up to you.

  • Iron worm - Chance to keep bait after catching a fish
  • Hungry hook - Chance to instantly get a bite when casting
  • Gambler's Doubloon - Chance to multiply a fish's value
  • Devil's Ember - Chance to instantly smoke a caught fish
  • Deadman's Hand - Chance to instantly reel in a fish
  • Siren's Conch - Increases odds of catching legendary and mythic tier fish
  • Captain's Stopwatch - Chance to perfectly complete the first strike minigame when fishing
  • Bassweiser - Chance to get a buzz off of catching a fish

THE YETI

The yeti introduced several new challenges to the Arctic map.

The yeti often spawns during intense snowy weather.

  • On the first encounter, the yeti will simply ask for tribute.
  • If you fail to provide tribute, the yeti becomes annoyed and takes tribute into his own hands. Once the yeti spawns again, he will give you one more chance to provide tribute; if you fail, he will begin to start stealing your items.
  • After stealing several of your items, if you still fail to provide tribute, he will take you to Yeti Island and teach you a valuable lesson

TRAPS

Players have always liked using the minnow trap so I decided to expand on this gameplay loop.

Traps have been reworked to become harvestable on the start of each morning as they catch bait overnight.

The primary bait traps include:

  • Minnow Trap
  • Crab Trap
  • Rabbit/Raccoon trap (be careful when walking around this trap, and definitely don't push your friends into this trap)

In addition, a new trap has been added... The Fish Trap

The Fish Trap is a brand new idea and allows players to passively collect fish from it.

  • The Fish trap collects fish overnight
  • It must be baited using bait from your tacklebox.
  • The type of fish collected by the trap depends on the value of the bait placed in the trap

Fish Trap Upgrade

  • The Fish Trap upgrade can be purchased from Jeb
  • Once upgraded, the fish trap can collect up to 3 fish per bait.

What can you do with the fish trap?

  • Most players will combo one of the bait traps with the fish trap. The bait trap serves as an infinite bait source which can be used to bait the fish trap to collect pasive fish each day.
  • The idea of the fish trap is to help aid with progression by taking off some of the load from the players, allowing them to spend their time doing other things each day. Buy enough fish traps and you may not have to fish at all.

Both the bait traps and fish trap have been added to the loot table and can be found around the map when starting a new run.

FISH BASED HATS

As we all know, catching Nessie unlocks the Nessie hat. This now applies to each and every legendary and mythical fish.

On catching a legendary/mythic fish, you will unlock an achievement and a hat to prove your feat.

In addition to the new legendary/mythic hats, tons of new hats have been added to the game and are tied into the level-based progression system.

As you level up, you will unlock new wearable hats to show others

The Musket

The musket was added as more of an easter egg item several patches ago, however, it now makes its full debut

  • Kills most creatures in one shot, including your friends
  • Can only be fired once before it becomes destroyed and unusable
  • Can be acquired as a drop from Skeeter or as a map loot spawn.
  • With the introduction of the musket, every creature in the game can now be killed and used as bait (except for your pets, because I can't trust some of you)

Item / Upgrade Cost Rework

Both items and upgrade prices have been reworked to be much more balanced.

Previously, prices scaled linearly with the number of players. The issue with this was that with more players comes more chaos and more competition for bait. This means that fish caught does not scale linearly with player count, so prices shouldn't either.

Rather than items/upgrades costing " value * numPlayers", the prices now scale at roughly "value * (numPlayers / 2).

For example. If there are 4 players in a lobby and an upgrade normally costs 100 with one player, the cost would be 400. However, with this new formula, the upgrade would cost ~200.

Quota Rework

Using the same logic we applied to item/upgrade costs, similar changes have been applied to quota growth.

No longer does quota scale linearly with the number of players; the new formula accounts for the reduced productivity that accompanies additional players.

What does this mean for you and your friends? With both the changes to item/upgrade prices and quota requirements, progression should feel much better and slightly less challenging. It was noticed that newer players in groups of 3 or more were struggling to achieve real progression. These changes should help with that significantly.

Save File Adjustments

Save files are now encrypted and can no longer be edited or changed using a simple hex or .sav editor.

  • All existing saves will be migrated and encrypted once you launch the game. A backup is automatically created in case the system runs into any issues
  • If you wish to back up a save file for an existing map, it is important that you back up all of the required files. These files include "Savefile# enc","Savefile# _ mac.sav", and SaveGame#MetaData.sav"

Anti Cheat Adjustments

I added new logic that checks for those who are using mods (like wemod) to cheat the leaderboards. If you are detected, you are permanently shadowbanned on the website, and no one will see your catches except for yourself.

Journal V2

The new version of the journal is now translated and localized to Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Turkish, and Korean

Tackle Box V2

Remade the tacklebox ui to help improve its level of polish and feel

Invite Friend Screen V2

Remade the UI for inviting your friends. The old ui was clunky and did not feel very responsive to user input

GONE FISHING MERCH

Whether you are in the market for some new threads, have money burning a hole in your pocket, or simply just looking to support me and my brother and the future of GONE Fishing's development.... I have just the thing for you...

Changes

  • Reworked the bountiful bait totem. It now gives a % chance to give you 2 bait from a trap instead of just 1.
  • Updated and polished the lobby UI and Cosmetics Screen UI
  • Players now get two hearts (tier 6 bait) after defeating the boss and upgrading the butcher table
  • Reduced the starting quota value on swamp to match the lake map (making the swamp map easier)
  • The stingray can now be used to glide across vast distances (this change was added several patches ago, but I noticed many players never saw this change)
  • The stingray can be acquired on any map through TNT fishing.
  • The troll now spawns starting on day 3
  • Changed trap visuals. Rather than the whole trap glowing when it is ready, the fish or bait in the trap will now have a green outline signifying it is ready. The minnow trap does not apply to this change since playtesters preferred when the whole trap was glowing
  • The glizzy bait can now be used to catch the Wels Catfish
  • Reduced the max volume of several creatures to protect your ear drums
  • Added an escape minigame to the bat when it grabbed you
  • Added translations for the new Trinker Trader and for Jebs shop

Fixes

  • Fixed missing collision issues on the swamp map
  • Fixed a bug where Sharkman would fail to abduct a player and then the game would get softlocked.
  • Fixed a bug where the EnderShark would kill players in the boat, causing the player to become bugged out
  • Fixed various replication issues with the traps
  • Fixed a bug where clients would sometimes appear jittery when looking around
  • Fixed a bug where subtitles for non-English languages would either appear too fast or too slow, making them difficult to read
  • Fixed a bug where sometimes when placing fish on the stove, the physics would behave weirdly and the fish would roll away and vanish
  • Fixed a bug where the leaderboard ui could become stuck on your screen
  • Fixed a bug where the xp bar indicating your level progress would stretch off-screen
  • Fixed a bug where the stingray would only have a value of 40 when caught. It now has a value of ~ 700
  • Fixed a bug that prevented players from getting the "Killed Friend" achievement
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from getting the "Killed Troll" achievement
  • Fixed a bug where the sizzling sound played by the stove when a fish is cooked would play in the wrong location
  • Fixed a bug where the flying bat creatures would not despawn on the start of the next day

It has been a crazy ride. Genuinely blessed and thankful to be able to build this game and have the community around it that we do. It's why my brother and I wake up and work on this game every day we can. Thank you for making this possible. We owe everything to you all. Thank you.

More coming soon

love you long time
