IronFlux 0.1.15: Replies In Game, Replays That Keep Working, and Smarter Armies

Ghost World Gaming

IronFlux 0.1.15 is out , bringing everything from 0.1.11 and 0.1.12 together with a new way to hear back from us about your reports. Here's what has changed since our last update.

Talk to us from inside the game

  • Replies to your reports: when we answer a problem report you sent (F8 or REPORT A PROBLEM), the main menu shows REPLY FROM THE IRONFLUX TEAM. Replies appear in your game language, with the English original underneath.
  • MY REPORTS: see every report you've sent from your PC. Click one to see when you sent it, its status (Received, In review, Fixed, Closed) and the full history of our replies and your additions, with dates shown the way your language writes them.
  • ADD TO THIS REPORT: send more details, a fresh screenshot, logs or a replay to a report you already sent, instead of starting a new one.
  • Private by design: only your PC can read our replies to your reports or add to them.

Your replays keep working

  • Replays recorded on 0.1.3 through 0.1.11 play again. The first time you open one it's converted, which takes a minute or two for a long match, and after that it opens straight away.
  • Replays recorded from 0.1.15 on can be watched in future versions too, even after the game rules change.
  • Jump through a replay with PgUp / PgDn (30 seconds) and Home (back to the start).

Multiplayer in the demo (0.1.11)

The IronFlux demo now includes online multiplayer: host or join matches through Steam with up to 8 players, by join code or by inviting friends.

Build, demolish and cancel

  • Demolish your own buildings: select them, press DEMOLISH (or Delete) and press again to confirm. You get half the metal back.
  • Cancel construction of a building that's still going up for a full refund.
  • Upgrades no longer stall at 0%. Pressing UPGRADE (or UPGRADE ALL) now also sends a builder that can do the work. MK2 buildings need an Engineer, and UPGRADE ALL spreads the work across your Engineers.
  • A building site that can't progress now says why: waiting for a tier 2 builder, a shipwright, metal, energy or flux. Its panel shows progress, the reason, SEND BUILDER and CANCEL CONSTRUCTION, and greyed-out buttons explain what's missing.

Moving and commanding armies

  • Units find their way around summit walls and other obstacles instead of pressing against them. A click on rock, water or a walled-off spot sends them to the nearest place they can reach.
  • Large groups move as a compact block centred on your click instead of a long column, and units no longer cross through each other to reach their places.
  • Box selection takes every unit it touches, and the screen keeps scrolling at the edge while you drag, so you can select an army bigger than the screen.
  • Big crowds converging on one small target form up and hold still instead of dancing around it.
  • With units selected, A is attack-move only and no longer also pans the camera. New option: PAN WITH WASD. The arrow keys always pan.
  • New option KEEP MOUSE IN WINDOW, on by default in fullscreen, so edge-scrolling works on multi-monitor setups.

Matches reach an ending

A side that has had no completed building for 60 seconds is revealed to its enemies, so the last hidden units, ships or construction sites can be found and the match can finish. Building something hides them again.

Smaller fixes

  • The problem-report form starts empty with placeholder text, and text fields support Ctrl+A.
  • "Report a problem" is named the same way everywhere, in every language.
  • Reports sent just before closing the game are now verified correctly.

Please note

  • Multiplayer needs everyone on the same version (0.1.15).
  • Saves from 0.1.11 or earlier can't be resumed because the game rules changed. Their replays still play, see above.

Roadmap

Next

  • The rewritten faction campaigns: 30 new missions across Vanguard, Choir and Court, starting on their homeworlds.
  • Better endings for large free-for-all matches.
  • Summit walls in the IronFlux Map Editor, and more multiplayer hardening.

Toward 1.0

  • Complete campaigns, polished multiplayer, and the content and balance passes for a full launch. The demo stays available until 1.0.

Found a bug or have an idea? Press F8 in game. Thank you to everyone who sent reports: many of the fixes in this update came straight from you, including several from our Russian-speaking players.
