Last Pirates: Die Together

A Tutorial That Leads Somewhere, No More Black Screens and a Lighter Game

RetroStyle Games

Ahoy, pirates!

Most players who finished the tutorial closed the game right on the “Tutorial complete” screen, never seeing the run that was waiting for them. This update changes that, fixes the black screen some of you ran into, and makes the game a lot lighter.

Tweaks

Tutorial:

  • It now ends on a board with a real choice:
  • Sail solo, straight into the first chapter
  • Sail with friends, with Find Crew opening right away, no digging through the pause menu
  • Back to the menu, if you’d rather stop here

Screen and window:

  • Borderless window is now the default mode
  • Display mode and resolution now apply together when you press Apply, and settings always show the mode you’re actually in

Playing with friends:

  • Joining by code works from anywhere, including levels and the lobby, not just the main menu
  • If a team can’t take you in, you’ll see a clear “session already in progress” message instead of an error
  • Audio settings now have a menu on each player: profile, microphone, kick and ban, all available on a gamepad

Shop and table:

  • The summary window now recommends a purchase: the cauldron first, then the cart, then the monkey, and a spare body once you have all three
  • Cards are reordered: consumables first, weapons last
  • The summary shows each player’s share in percent, so you can see who really carried the run
  • A hint next to the carrier slot reminds you if you’re heading out without a spare body

Text and size:

  • Fonts no longer have overlapping letters, missing characters for Latin-based languages and Vietnamese are added, and translations got a round of fixes
  • The game uses about 700 MB less memory, and the lobby loads faster

Balance

  • A deadly shark bite now holds you in its jaws with a new animation, and the damage lands closer to the end, giving a teammate a moment to save you
  • The monkey carrier waits 8 seconds after you load it instead of leaving the moment you turn away
  • Empty rum bottles sell for a quarter of the price
  • Level 12 always has the Anchor as its side boss
  • The Anchor now fights players standing on furniture

Bug fixes

  • Fixed the game getting stuck on a black screen with music playing, even after Alt+Tab
  • Fixed missing water on the beaches of castle levels
  • The cauldron now flips in place and turns toward where you’re looking
  • Coins from the monkey’s hand no longer switch between gold and silver
  • The Mimic no longer records and repeats players with their microphone off
  • Cracks on a body stay in place when a teammate picks it up
  • Fixed several cart issues, including slopes, the statue and shaking while riding

Pick your path, pack a spare body, and see you on the islands.
