Last Pirates: Die Together

Meta-Progression is Out of Beta: Upgrade Cards, Day Restarts and a New Tutorial

RetroStyle Games

Ahoy, pirates!

Everything you earned in a run used to disappear the moment it ended. Not anymore. Meta-progression has left the beta branch and is now part of the main game. Thanks to everyone who tested it and told us what broke.

To make room for meta-progression, chapter progress is being reset for everyone. We know losing progress stings, so we made something special for those who sailed with us before the update: veteran players get a unique skin as our thank-you!

Coins from the quota are now yours personally. Each player gets their own share and keeps it from run to run, no matter who you play with.

Spend them on upgrade cards. The cauldron, the cart, weapons, tools, potions and even your own booty now unlock for good and level up. Each unlock opens the next branch: the cauldron leads to the cart, and the cart leads to the monkey carrier.

Ring the bell after a level to see the summary: who collected how much, how your booties are holding up and how many coins you earned. The upgrade tree is right there, so you can spend on the spot.

Before the next level, everyone lays cards from their own hand into shared slots on the table:

  • Cards on the table appear in the level as regular items, and anyone can use them
  • Cover someone else’s card with yours, and theirs goes back to its owner
  • There are four slots for any team size. Buy an extra one in the upgrade menu, and it works for the whole team while you’re in the session

Ring the small bell by your seat when you’re ready. The level starts once everyone is. Changed your mind? Tap it again.

Small cards above your health bar show what the next level gives you for free.

A wiped team no longer ends the run. Everyone present votes on restarting the day, not just the host. You get half of the delivered quota back in coins to spend in the shop, then return to the table for another go.

The tutorial has clearer hints and now walks you through the summary window, your first purchase and the table. Finish it to earn a tutorial skin. Its second day takes place on a real level and leads straight into the first chapter.

  • The Crab holds you for one second less, tires faster and can no longer grab you nonstop. There are also fewer of them
  • The Old Pirate walks slower and can now be heard. He takes longer to aim, and his bomb fuse burns longer
  • The Gargoyle walks around the moving elevator cabin instead of pressing against it

Ring the bell, lay down your cards, and see you on the islands.
