Tap Serving, Combos & New UI
Hi, this is KimStudio, the developer of Lunch Duty. This update makes serving faster and snappier, and gives the whole UI a fresh new look.
Tap serving
- No more holding E. Each press of E or left click serves one scoop. Hold the button to keep serving.
- How much a student wants is now shown as ladles: 1 for a little, 2 for normal, 3 for a lot. The ladles appear above the student's head and in the serving gauge at the bottom of the screen.
- Each scoop fills one ladle. They turn green when it's just right and orange when it's too much.
- The ladles above a student's head stay on screen even while you're looking down at the counter.
- Students who have everything they need move on to the next counter right away.
Combos and the lunch rush
- Every perfect serving adds to your combo. From a 3 combo you earn a bonus, and the longer the combo, the bigger the bonus.
- Serving too much, or serving a student who doesn't want that dish, breaks the combo.
- The results screen shows your best combo and your combo bonus.
- Near the end of lunch, the "Lunch rush" begins. Students come faster and more often.
- Hold Shift to run.
Fewer money losses
- When you open the order screen, every dish is already filled in at a "Good" amount within your budget. You can confirm it as is.
- On days 1-3 of the first semester, two student council members help with serving for free.
- From day 4, you can hire serving helpers for ₩10,320 each (Korea's minimum hourly wage).
- Fixed a first-day tip that made players order far too many ingredients.
New UI
- The menu, room creation, lobby, order, shop, results, pause and settings screens now share one new design.
- In-game UI like the clock, tray count, name labels and serving gauge now uses the same brown panels, so it's easy to read even in the bright kitchen.
- Fixed name labels cluttering the screen. Only nearby and urgent labels are shown now.
- Fixed the settings button covering text on the save slot screen when creating a room.
- In multiplayer, the ESC window is now titled "Menu (game still running)", since the game doesn't pause when playing together.
Other fixes
- Desserts like chocolate milk showed up as plain white milk cartons in the staff room.
- Carrying the staff portion turned the whole pot the color of the food.
We'll keep polishing the game throughout Early Access. If you find a bug or have something to say, please leave it on the Steam discussion board!
