Megastore: Tidy Up Together

Level Editor Sneak Peek — Closed Playtest Coming Soon!

Yolo Games Studio

A First Look at Our Upcoming Level Editor!

Hey everyone!

It’s been a little while since our last update, and during that time we’ve been working on something we’re incredibly excited about: the Level Editor for Megastore: Tidy Up Together!

Today, we wanted to give you a closer look at what this feature is all about, what it will let you do, and how close we are to getting it into your hands.

For those who haven’t heard about it yet, the Level Editor will let you create your own fully playable tidy-up maps using the game’s shelves, products, structures, and decorations.

You’ll be able to build your own stores, shape their layout, customize their appearance, and turn them into maps that you can play with friends in co-op and share with the world through Steam Workshop.

That means this feature has the potential to bring virtually endless replayability to the game through community-created content.

We’re still polishing the system, so what you’ll see below is not the final version yet, but we wanted to give you a sneak peek of the overall workflow and show how quickly you can start building something fun with the editor.

In the example below, we create a small enclosed area and turn it into a compact toy section in just a short time.

A Quick Look at the Workflow

Step 1 - Structures

This is where the overall space starts to take shape.

Using the Structures tools, you can place walls and doors to define rooms and create different store sections. This allows you to control the layout of the map and divide areas however you want.

We’re preparing a variety of structural pieces, including different kinds of walls and doors, so you can build spaces that feel open, compact, or more segmented depending on your design.

Step 2 - Place & Customize

Once the basic structure is in place, you can start giving the area its own identity.

In this step, you can paint walls and floors, place decorations, and begin adding shelves to shape the space into an actual playable store area. This is where the environment starts feeling alive and takes on its own style.

Our goal is to make customization flexible and easy to use, so you can quickly turn a simple empty area into something that looks and feels like a real store section.

Step 3 - Signage and Assignment

After setting up the space, it’s time to give it structure in terms of gameplay.

In this step, you can place signage and assign shelves to categories. This helps define what each shelf is meant for and gives the area a clear organizational purpose.

This part is especially important because it connects the visual side of the editor with the actual tidy-up gameplay flow, allowing your custom store sections to function the way you intend.

Step 4 - Spawn Items

And finally, the last step is bringing the map to life with products.

Here, you choose where items will spawn and populate the map with the products that players will organize. If you want to fine-tune the setup, you can also interact with the products directly and place them more manually, almost like playing the game itself.

This helps you shape the exact kind of tidy-up experience you want your custom map to offer. After this step, your map will be ready to share with one click to the entire world!

Designed to Be Accessible

One of our biggest goals with the Level Editor is to make it feel approachable.

We don’t want this to feel like a complicated external modding tool. Instead, we’re designing it as an in-game creation mode that feels natural to use, something that lets you build and experiment in a way that’s intuitive, playful, and satisfying.

In other words, we want making maps to feel like part of the game itself.

Share Your Maps with the World

Of course, creating maps is only one part of the excitement.

You’ll also be able to share your creations through Steam Workshop, allowing other players to download and enjoy them. And because these maps are built for the game itself, you’ll be able to jump into them with your friends in co-op just like you would with our official content.

We’re really excited about what this could mean for the future of the game. Instead of only replaying the same official levels, you’ll be able to explore maps created by the community, from small cozy stores to much larger and more complex spaces.

We expect a lot of variety here, and that’s exactly what makes this feature so exciting.

Closed Playtest Coming Soon

We’re currently preparing the Level Editor for its first closed playtest, which we’re aiming to start within the next few days.

This playtest will use a private Steam Workshop setup, and access will be limited to participants during the testing period.

If you’d like to join and help us shape this feature, please join our Discord, we’ll share more details there.

During the playtest, we’ll be focusing on:

  • improving the overall workflow,
  • polishing the user experience,
  • fixing bugs,
  • and collecting feedback before release.

Our goal is to release the Level Editor shortly after the playtest, once we’ve had time to act on the feedback and make the feature more solid.

We will bring this update to the game before our fifth official map.

And after that fifth map arrives, its shelves and products will also become available in the editor, giving you even more tools to build with.

A Big Step for the Future of the Game

From the beginning, we wanted Megastore: Tidy Up Together to be more than a game you simply finish and move on from.

We wanted it to be something that could grow with its community — a game that could keep offering fresh experiences through creativity, sharing, and replayability.

That’s why we’ve been designing our systems with this kind of feature in mind from the start.

We’re incredibly excited that it’s finally getting close, and we can’t wait to show you more very soon.

Thank you so much for your support, patience, and enthusiasm.

A huge new chapter for Megastore: Tidy Up Together is on the way!
