Online Multiplayer Beta + Game Discount!

Hi Parasites!

Oops, looks like we let the pathogens grow out of control. Now there are two of them... no, actually, there are up to 8 of them!

We've been working on an online multiplayer mode that allows up to 8 devices connected to the same lobby, and now this game mode will be available for public beta during 15-29 October 2026. So call up your friends and hop onto the beta branch by following the steps below:

1. Right-click Pathogenic in your Steam Library and select Properties

2. Go to the Game Versions & Betas tab

3. Select the Multiplayer Beta branch

4. Call up your friends and start playing!

Here's some useful information for your online multiplayer adventures:

• Enemy HP will scale proportionally to the number of pathogens in your party.
• Rewards and resources spawns will be the same for all players, but each player gets their own share. You don't have to worry about anyone stealing the organelles you want!
• One pathogen going down isn't the end of the run: Dead pathogens will respawn at the end of the level as long as at least one pathogen in the lobby survives and defeats the level's boss.
• Try tweaking the advanced options to adjust the lobby's difficulty.
• The local co-op Diatom is selectable, in case you want some split-cell action. This means, technically, up to 16 players can join one lobby.

Do note that this online multiplayer mode is still a work-in-progress and we aim to stress test it with this beta. Please let us know if you run into any issues regarding the game mode or if you have any feedback so we can address them as soon as possible.
