Update 0.2.78: Training for every part, new seeds – and thank you!
First of all: thank you. Since launch you've played Phasewright, written reviews, reported bugs and told us where it snags. That is what made this update. We read the reports, and a lot of it made it into the game. Thanks to everyone who took the time.
New
- Training – in the main menu under "Play". There's a lesson for every part: first a small machine builds itself on the board and runs, with notes on what to watch. Then you build a similar one yourself, and the part is a must. At the end there's a card with up to three stars. Training came straight out of your feedback: parts should explain themselves better.
- New seeds – free play has far more possible orders now. Enter a code, a number or just a word ("Coppernight"): the same word is the same order on every machine. New codes are ten characters long; the old six-character codes keep working and give exactly the same order as before. On Normal, new orders are now built so that they ask for a part that plain conduits can't replace.
- Better hints – four orders have new, number-based hints, a few wrong hints are gone, and the combiner now says that two pulses leave as one in the mixed colour.
Fixed
Orders
- Six orders weren't signed off even though the machine did everything asked. One of them is order 88 in chapter 8 ("Holding"), which a player reported: it couldn't be completed even with the solution rebuilt one to one. Thank you for that report! It was a bug in the sign-off.
- Five orders (sorter, crossover, bridge) could be solved with plain conduit even though they're meant to teach that part. The maps are cut so that you do need the part now. Your progress stays: solved orders stay solved, and best scores and stars are kept.
- The Master Tests now actually limit the number of parts (not the area), as the order says.
- Forecast froze on opening on some days. Fixed.
- The part duel is solvable again: its palette now includes the parts the order needs.
Saving and loading
- A purchase in the shop could wipe redeemed codes, bonus points and custom titles. Fixed.
- Milestone bonus points were skipped at some levels. Fixed.
- Play time was lost when moving from one order to the next. Fixed.
- Erasing a save slot sometimes brought it back. Fixed.
- Steam Cloud should no longer overwrite a new computer's cloud save with an empty one.
- Pasted saves are no longer overruled by the automatic safety copy.
Controls and display
- The colour chart on the build field and the count goals showed only bare colour dots, which mean nothing to colour-blind players. Each colour now also shows its shape and its colour word. Thanks for pointing it out!
- Escape and B on a controller now also close the showcase picker and the code box.
- A held Enter no longer confirms a question by accident.
- The guide card no longer swallows Enter and Space when it shows no "Next".
- Changing the language in settings no longer drops you into the pause menu.
- A file dragged onto the window no longer replaces the game.
- The Steam timeline gets its markers back, with weight and place.
Workshop and online
- In the workshop, the sign-off of large orders was lost on restart or sharing. Fixed.
- The editor now asks whether to save or discard changes instead of overwriting silently.
- Online, the lobby stays together on a rematch and on re-rolling. With three or four players, the best result for each order counts.
- The recheck in duels now applies an order's extra rules (such as cost limits).
Keep it coming
Found a bug, had an idea or got stuck somewhere? The feedback button in the game (bottom right, the warning triangle) goes straight to us. And a review helps others find the game. Thanks for being here!
