Update 0.9.2: Levels, two new maps and all-new sound

ACA Games

An endless ladder of levels

  • Single player is now a ladder of levels with no end. Clear wave 50 to win a level; each level is played on the next map and is a little harder than the last.
  • Your first win on a level gives 2 cards to open and unlocks the next one. You can replay the 5 levels below your highest open level, and the last 3 of them give a card for every win.
  • Levels 1 to 3 teach the basics step by step.
  • Crystals are gone: every reward is now a card to open from the element you choose, in the PACKS tab.

Two new maps, shorter paths

  • Desert Oasis: dunes, giant cacti, ruined columns and a palm-lined oasis.
  • Cherry Garden: blossoming cherry trees, a lily pond and stone lanterns.
  • All 10 maps now share the same size and have shorter paths, so creatures reach your towers sooner and a level takes less time.
  • Up to 40 towers on a map and up to 40 cards in a deck.

Towers, creatures and slots

  • 56 new towers, 196 in total, each with its own second-evolution model and attack: fire whirls, tide altars, mosquito hives, sky ships, ghost ships, a Gatling tower and many more.
  • 70 new creatures, 200 in total, seven more for every biome, mixed into the wave order.
  • The map's slots start locked: drag a card onto a locked slot to unlock it and build. The first 3 slots are free, then each one costs a little more gold.

Shop and cards

  • Shop cards now glow when they help you merge: blue if you already own one copy (on the field or on your bench), gold if you own two and this one completes the evolution.
  • Rare, Epic and Legendary towers are a little rarer, both in card packs and in the shop.
  • During your first two hours of play you get 13 gifts, each one a card to open.
  • Card tooltips no longer stay on screen when the shop closes.

All-new sound and music

  • Every sound effect was remade, and the xylophone-like blips are gone.
  • Tower attacks are now 3D sounds that come from the tower itself. Combat is only heard when you zoom in, so the full-map view stays calm; spawn sounds and the coin sound for every kill are gone.
  • The music was re-orchestrated with new flute, shakuhachi, shawm and harp voices.

Multiplayer

  • Up to 6 players side by side. Only the map you watch is drawn: click a player's card on the right to jump to their map.
  • The host picks the map and everyone plays it. The match difficulty follows the weakest deck in the lobby.
  • Want a private game? Make your lobby friends-only and invite your Steam friends.
  • If you fall you can keep watching or take your reward and leave at any time. When everyone is done, a match results table shows who reached which wave.

Other improvements

  • Six graphics levels from Very Low to Very High; Very Low uses simplified models for older PCs. On first launch the game picks a level that suits your graphics card.
  • Creature models are much lighter with the same look, so big waves run smoother.
  • Attack marks that belong on the ground (puddles, splashes, cracks, rings) now stay on the ground, even when a flying target dies before the hit lands.
  • The wave counter shows your goal (wave x / 50).
  • A QUIT button in Settings.
  • Fixed a crash on startup in fullscreen on some graphics cards.
  • All 23 languages updated.
