It took a while, but we finally have a beta version of the 3D Model Import feature ready for you!
Bringing this feature to life was a massive challenge. 3D file formats are complex, and because RPG Stories has grown into a huge application over the years, we had to rework a big parts of the applications architecture to support this new way of external file loading.
This beta release includes:
- Format Support: Import .gltf, .fbx, .obj, .stl, .ply, .3mf, and .dae files.
- Batch Import: Bring in entire folders of 3D models all at once.
- Separate Texture Mapping: Link custom textures to your models using our folder and naming conventions.
- Steam Workshop Integration: Share your custom assets seamlessly with the rest of the community (or keep them unlisted if you prefer!).
Because external models behave differently than built-in assets, if you are eager to jump in, we strongly recommend checking out our 3D Model Import Guide before you get started.
As this was a tricky feature to accomplish we may still have a few bugs in our mist.
If you find any issues please report them to our discord server.
