Sacred 2 Remaster

Further Development

SparklingBit

Heroes of Ancaria!

While we will continue working on the game, we need to scale down development of the Sacred 2 Remaster, andwant to be transparent about what this means for the future.

We are very grateful to you, for sticking with us over the last year, while we worked to address issues that came with the launch to make the game a better experience.

Thank you all for providing us with feedback and bug reports, which has greatly helped us to continuously improve the game patch after patch. We would like to inform you that we will not be able to develop or add:

  • Major system reworks
  • Multiplayer for Consoles
  • New content or DLCs

With our now more limited development capacity, the work we take on will need to remain relatively small and self-contained, allowing us to make improvements while minimizing the risk of changes interfering with other systems.

Additionally, we are currently in the middle of working on a stability patch for our players on the Nintendo Switch, that should resolve a large percentage of the currently occuring crashes.

What we will focus on

Our first priority will be quest issues.

Since launch, many of you have reported issues with individual quests and quest steps, and fixing these has been a recurring request from the community.

We will now take the time to go through these issues.

With our limited development capacity, addressing these issues may take time, depending on how easy it is to reproduce the issue.

How you can help

If you encounter a quest issue, please submit a bug report with as much information as possible.

While we have about 40 quest issues documented, most of these reports do not include savegames with which the issue can be reproduces, drastically slowing down how fast we can resolve the issue.

You can submit your bug reports here: https://bugreporting.thqnordic.com/#/projects/176/sacred-2-remaster-community/add-issue The most useful thing you can provide is a savegame where:

  • The affected quest has already been started
  • The problematic quest step has not yet been completed
  • Use the quicksave feature at the location where the problem occurs

The issue can therefore be reproduced directly from the save.

If you no longer have a savegame from before the issue occurred or are playing on Console and cannot extract a savegame, please still report the issue.

In that case, it would be particularly helpful to provide:

  • The name of the quest
  • A screenshot of the logbook with the affected quest step marked / painted over or selected
  • The character you played as
  • wether you were playing a light or shadow campaign
  • A screenshot showing the location of the NPC who gives the quest (both in game and on the map)
  • Any additional information that could help us reproduce the issue

Having a savegame at the point where the problem occurs can make investigating and reproducing a quest issue significantly faster.

Tell us what matters to you

There are far too many quests and questlines for us to check and verify manually. For that reason, we'd also like to ask the community to help us understand which quest issues matter most to you.

Helping the community take things further

We also want to take steps to make it easier for the community to build on the Remaster themselves.

The Sacred 2 Remaster contains a number of moddable files, and we will work on providing documentation for these files and how to use them.

Some of this documentation is already available on our discord an on the darkmatters.org sacred forum. Our goal is to make the moddable parts of the game easier to understand and to shed some light onto some of their more obscure details.

We are incredibly grateful for the support and patience you have shown Sacred 2 Remaster, and for everyone who has taken the time to share their feedback with us.

We are lookking forward to hearing from you as we work on the next steps together.

Thank you for being part of the Sacred community.
