Steam Next Fest Demo Update: 10 New Languages, One Climb!
Hi climbers!
Until today, the demo was in English only, which meant a lot of you were playing with menus and messages in a language that isn’t yours, and we really didn’t love that. So here’s some good news: from this update, the interface and subtitles are available in your own language, and we’re kicking things off with these ten:
- Deutsch (German)
- Español (Latinoamérica)
- Français (French)
- Italiano (Italian)
- Polski (Polish)
- Português (Brasil)
- Русский (Russian)
- 日本語 (Japanese)
- 简体中文 (Simplified Chinese)
- 한국어 (Korean)
English stays exactly as it was, and switching is easy: head to Settings in the main menu and pick the language you want to play in.
Since these are our very first translations, there’s a good chance a line reads a little strangely somewhere or a word doesn’t quite land the way it should, and we would much rather hear about it from you than discover it ourselves in a month. If you spot anything, raise a support ticket or tell us in the Q&A channel on our Discord, and we’ll get it sorted.
And if your language isn’t on the list yet, please let us know in the Steam discussions! We want to know where you’re climbing from and what you’d like to see next, and hearing it straight from you makes it so much easier to decide which languages come next.
Chat bubbles
Chat messages now pop up above the sender’s head, so you can see who’s talking.
- Your own message appears above you the moment you send it
- Bubbles show over nearby players, clear up to about 20 m and fading out by about 40 m
- They stay for 6 to 8 seconds and fit up to 100 characters
- If you’ve blocked someone, their messages stay hidden in chat and they get no bubble above their head either
Thank you for climbing with us, wherever in the world you’re doing it from.
