Steam Next Fest Demo Update: New Menu, Control Remapping & Emote Wheel!

ScapeWorld Entertainment AB

Hi climbers!

Day 5 of Next Fest brings a big quality-of-life update!

Here’s what’s new:

New in-game menu

The old pause menu is gone. In its place: one menu with five tabs, PLAY, CHARACTER, SETTINGS, CONTROLS and QUIT GAME, in a new teal and gold look.

Control remapping

You can now rebind keyboard, mouse and controller controls.

Aim zoom

Hold right mouse button (left trigger on controller) to zoom in over your character’s shoulder and look into the distance. Release to zoom back out. Rebindable on the CONTROLS tab.

Emote wheel

Hold E (View button on controller) to open the wheel, point at an emote with the mouse or right stick, and let go to play it.

Fall sounds

Long falls now have their own sound while you’re in the air, and hard and splat landings get their own impact sounds. You also hear other players’ falls from where they are, with the sound changing as they rush past you.

Wishlist on Steam

A Wishlist on Steam button now sits on the title screen and on the PLAY tab, next to I’m stuck. Before, it only appeared after finishing the demo.

Smaller changes

  • Companion filters: Account Bound, Tradable Now and Tradable Later are now one Trade status dropdown, so the filter row fits in every language. ALL and OWNED stay as tabs
  • Title screen: Esc (back button on controller) now closes the Controls and License screens

Thanks for all the feedback this week; it’s shaping these updates directly.

Keep it coming in the Q&A channel on Discord, and see you on the wall!
