SMS Returns

Optimisation, console release update, and Prison 2012 - Happy Slend'oween!

Marc Steene

Happy Slend'oween, everyone!

This exciting update addresses many issues that have been raised since the game launched just over a month ago. A significant optimisation effort has been made based on feedback with no discernible impact to content or visuals. Game size has been reduced by 42%, loading is quicker, multiplayer is more responsive, and frame times have been improved across some maps and modes.

This update also adds Prison 2012 including assets that were missing in the original FPSC version, so what you are about to play in SMS Returns is Prison in its complete, glorious vision that Wray originally intended.

Finally, SMS Returns has been approved for Xbox and PlayStation release! This does not mean the game will come out on those platforms tomorrow, it is just the first step, and we need to actually build the console versions first. We are aiming for the first half of next year.

I hope you enjoy this content update! Don't forget, today is the Slendy Saturday community event where we'll be getting together to play some multiplayer from 8PM-10PM GMT. Join our Discord to participate!

Please note: This patch is much larger than usual due to the storage optimisation work, but future patches will be back to their normal size.
