The City

Today is the day, it's here! Welcome Mayors

The City is live in Early Access!

Version 0.1.0

Hey Mayors,

Today's the day. The City launches in Early Access tonight, November 5th, at 10:00 PM Central (CST) for $19.99 USD. We can't wait to see what you build, how you build it, and what you think. Before you break ground, here's what to expect from us and how we'll keep things running smoothly.

We're on high alert

Our team will be in Discord and on the Steam forums all launch week, watching for reports as they come in.

  • Daily updates. Every launch has a few surprises. For the first few weeks we'll push fixes daily to clear them up fast.
  • 24-hour responses. Through launch week (until about November 12th), every problem posted on Steam or Discord gets a response within 24 hours. You'll get the same attention after that. We just won't flood you with hourly patches, because nobody wants to update their game every time they sit down to play.
  • Report from inside the game. Press F8 anytime to send us a report straight from the game, no account needed. It's anonymous if you want it to be.

Tons of content is coming

Expect a lot over the next 30 days. That means fixes, and it also means good old-fashioned new content: highways, roundabouts, stores, parking and more. See what's coming on our roadmap: thecitysim.com/roadmap Our promise on the roadmap: once something is on it, it stays on it. We'll add to the roadmap, but we'll never remove something we've planned.

Our promise on dates

You paid for the game, and we told you when things would arrive. We intend to deliver on those dates. Barring a natural disaster or a catastrophic problem with the game, the roadmap dates will be honored. If a feature isn't fully ready on its date, we'll ship a smaller version on time and fill in the rest over the following days instead of letting the date slide.

You're the Mayor, and we're listening

We love playing The City as much as we love making it. One of the biggest problems in gaming today is development teams that stop listening to their players. That won't happen here. When it comes to building your city, you're in control. Every asset and feature is a choice, not a requirement. Don't like an asset? Don't place it. Don't like a feature? Don't use it. We've worked hard to make sure there's no single "right way" to play. Tell us what you want next:

  • Vote and request features at thecitysim.com/forums/votes. Sign in with Steam; no new account needed.
  • Post on the Steam discussion boards. We read them.
  • Press F8 in the game if you'd rather stay anonymous.

A small ask

If you don't like something, tell us why. If it's something we can fix, we will. If the game just isn't for you, that's completely fair, and Steam's review system is there for exactly that. All we ask is this: don't just take our word for it. Watch what we do, see whether we keep our promises, and give us a chance to fix the issues you find before you leave a negative review. And if you'd rather not, that's okay too.

Thank you

To our founders and playtesters: you got us here. To every new Mayor joining this week and in the weeks ahead: welcome. We can't wait to see your skyline. See you in the city. — The Wubur Studios Team
