Demo Update 0.9.1: The Tower Grew a Body
"You came back. Good. I was getting hungry." — The Tower
The TOWERMOUTH demo has been rebuilt from the inside. Here is what changed.
STACK THRESHOLDS Five effect cards now have a threshold. Collect five copies of the same effect and it changes shape: Lightning Rod, Fuse Fist, Blood Web, Thorn Garden or Echo. The more copies you hold, the more often that effect is offered, so a committed build gets there, but not on floor 2.
A SLOWER, DEEPER CLIMB
- Level-ups come less often and cards show smaller numbers, so floor 5 still has something worth taking.
- Stat caps are now visible (MAX on the panel and on the card) and they rise as you reach new tiers.
- Crit past the cap turns into crit damage instead of disappearing.
FLOORS WITH A SHAPE
- Chokepoints, cover and hidden alcoves. From floor 3, a dim chest waits behind a low wall and lights up when you get close.
- Replay a floor and its layout stays the same.
THE TOWER HAS A BODY Floors 1-20 are cold lantern light and wet stone. At floor 21 the tower starts digesting you, and you can see it: the light turns, and the stone starts to go soft at the edges.
WARDENS
- Every warden in the demo now has its own body.
- Signature attacks telegraph with their own colour and shape. There is always time to get out.
COMBAT FEEL
- Heavy hits interrupt enemies mid-attack (wardens don't flinch).
- Each weapon has its own hit sound, shake and hit-stop.
- Every shot makes a sound the moment it fires, and a kill sounds like a kill.
CO-OP
- Hold Interact to drag your downed partner out of the crowd.
- The run summary counts revives, drags, alcoves and streaks, and the tower tells you what it remembers.
HUD AND CONTROLS
- A gate arrow at the screen edge once a floor is clear, and a warning arrow when a warden is behind you.
- Delayed damage on the HP bar and a mini compass.
- The camera now rides behind you (toggle in Settings). Mouse look on keyboard.
- ESC and B always mean "back".
SETTINGS
- Master volume.
- Text size up to 120%.
- Gamepad rebinding for Jump, Dash and Interact.
- The version number is on the main menu.
Your demo progress (records, badges, settings, continue) carries over.
See you at Steam Next Fest, October 19-26. The tower will be open all week.
