2.7.4: Bigger cannon fire, new sigils and matching unit portraits
Hi, Mason here. The latest March Out! update is available in the Steam Playtest, and the main game build has received the same changes.
Cannons should feel like cannons
I've made the muzzle flare much larger, with a forward blast of fire, sparks and thick powder smoke that hangs in the air for several seconds. The firing boom and impact sounds are stronger, and a hit kicks up debris with a nearby camera response.
A direct cannon hit now kills the enemy troop it strikes, including rallied heavy infantry and specialist troops. The impact launches the body in the direction of the shot. A cannonball already in flight keeps going if its crew is killed.
Cannons still fire at a single target and have a slow reload, so keeping their crew protected matters. Commander and castle damage retain their existing scaling.
More ways to mark your kingdom
There are now 12 sigils to choose from: Sword, Sun, Tower, Chevrons, Crown, Star, Crescent, Fleur-de-lis, Crossed axes, Oak leaf, Rose and Stag antlers.
The selector shows each sigil's name, remembers your choice and carries it into multiplayer. I've also corrected the standard tier 2 and tier 3 gate badges so they display the chosen crest.
Recruitment portraits that match your army
Recruit buttons now reflect your current kingdom skin, troop type and technology tier, with matching portraits for specialists too. This applies to both campaign and multiplayer recruitment.
Language and interface fixes
This update also improves regional language detection, text refreshes when changing languages, multiplayer warnings, memorial text and number formatting, weapon unlock notices, and recruitment label layouts across the 15 supported languages.
A few recent improvements you may have missed
The current build also includes the imported cannon and animal specialist models, castle collision and shield repairs, clearer microphone diagnostics, longer proximity voice range with a linear fade, multiplayer pacing work, and varied launch strength for individual bodies caught in an explosion.
All skins and commander weapons remain available to Steam Playtest testers. Please let me know how the cannon feels against different armies, and report anything that looks wrong with your selected sigil or recruitment portraits.
Everyone in a multiplayer match should update before joining.
