Suburbs Map Preview: Introducing Fairview Mall!

The next major update for Grand Theft Idiots is coming along, and I wanted to share a preview of the new map I've been working on. There's still quite a bit to finish as the map is still a work in progress, but I'm hoping to have the update released sometime within the next week or so. Suburbs will become the main map in Grand Theft Idiots, as it was originally intended to be. Pacific Mall will still be available as a secondary map, so you can continue playing on the original map if you prefer it. I will update this post later with better images of the map once more progress has been made so stay tuned

Feedback & Reviews

If you've played the game, let me know what you think! You can share feedback in the Steam Discussions and leave a Steam review, whether it's positive or negative. If there's something you like, dislike, or think could be improved, I'd like to hear about it.

Introducing Fairview Mall

One of the main features of Suburbs is Fairview Mall, a large shopping mall with over 30 stores inside. This mall was originally planned to be the main map at launch, but it was delayed while I worked on other parts of the game. I've recently returned to it and made improvements to the layout and overall look to make it feel more like an actual shopping mall.

Explore the Suburbs

Outside the mall, the Suburbs map features a variety of standalone stores spread throughout the surrounding area. You'll have plenty of different locations to visit, each with its own opportunities to grab some loot.

The map also features a police station and a more active police presence throughout the open streets. Police cars will roam the surrounding area, and if you're caught stealing outside the mall, you'll be taken into custody and brought to the station. From there, you'll need to find a way to sneak out and get back to the streets!

Two Districts to Explore

Since Suburbs is a much larger map, I've split it into two districts. Each round randomly selects one of them, keeping the playable area more focused while still offering some variety between rounds.

Shopping District features more standalone stores, giving you a wider selection of smaller locations to rob.

Mall District has fewer standalone stores but includes the large Fairview Mall, offering a different area to explore.

Both districts have their own advantages, so each one offers a different experience depending on where you end up playing.
